I have put pics up before but they have been all over the place and since i have done some new mods i thought i would put them all together to see the progress since buying her.

I got the car in June 2005, spent ages looking at absolute dogs for sale until i came across my car, a superb 2000 MKIV GTI with only 14k on the clock (its on 52k now).  The guy i got it from seemed to be under the impression that it was a really special car that should only be driven now and again, he even asked if it was going to be a second car!  He had spent a fortune on it though, putting Bilstein PSS9 coiovers, 312mm brakes, full Projektzwo kit, private plate and a trip to Oettinger in Germany for a remap new Oettinger exahust and cat, more efficient turbo (KO3s i presume) to bring it upto a claimed 230bhp.  All in all he spent around £9-10k on all the mods since buying it from new, the trip to Oettinger was around £5k on its own, madness!  The price he tried to sell it for reflected the ammount of cash he had put into the car, firstly going for sale at 13K, no takers, then 11k still no takers then 9k and i got it for 8.5k, a good deal for me as it was in as new condition.

Since buying it i have changed a few bits here and ther over time and it now looks pretty different from its original state.

This is when i got her

After parking at work i must have overhung the kerb at the front and upon reversing ouyt the front bumper snagged and a large piece of the front valance snapped off! the pic also shows the new OEM xenons i got from a group buy here and a standard grill to replace the horrendous projektzwo one.

I got a few quotes to repair the front and have it repainted but it was coming out at silly money so i decided to change to an R32 front.  I also had a cracked middle silencer on my exhaust so i stupidly went to powerflow to have it replaced, the result was a race car noise with sounded awful so i decided to cut my losses and get a new system so i went for an jetex anni cat back system.  Upon fitting i found out the idiots at powerflow had welded the new middle box from my old exhaust over  the top of my oettinger cat which completely buggered it!  so more cash later a new jetex cat was on and connected to my new jetex system.

The plan now was to trim the rear valance to suit my new exhaust but after consideration i decided against cutting up a £270 rear valance so sold it to pauldazzle on here and got myself a rarer than rocking horse shoot R-line rear valance with exahust cut out for my shiny new anni exhaust.  I got a few quotes for painting the rear and smoothing the grill seam on the R32 front and painting that too, eventually i went with Greg Howell of Phat4 fame to do the work and was very pleased with the outcome.  The xenons are off on these pics due to a wiring issue that was soon resolved.

I was very pleased with the outcome but the wheels were letting the whole thing down but due to my wedding coming up funds fr new wheels just wasnt available.  i had a service recently tho and was told that all 4 tyres needed replacing at a cost of £260, so i did a little looking around and found a set of new style RS4 wheels with tyres on the classified here with only a months use.  So with only £50 difference it would have been rude not to buy them so i met up with dubslife (cheers mate) and bought them.  They are not my first choice of wheel but for the price i couldnt argue really and i think they look great.  I also got a JOM badgeless grill from Damian at DPM, painted that and got it fitted and im very happy with the outcome.  it needs lowering more but when i tried the locking nuts on the coilovers were siezed tight so that will be done another time along with some 15mm spacers for the rear.

Im very happy with how it looks now, the only things i might change in the future are the sideskirts as im not too keen on them and maybe some US R32 lights.

    Any comments are welcome

    Cheers

Nice Golf - looks in awesome condition and low miles too, worth every penny by the looks of it. I just love the R-line rear!

I'd keep the standard grill though if it was me, and obv get the coilies wound down a tad more...

What future plans? I like the LCR splitter on the R32 front...

    otherwise cracking job Smile

That r line gear fits nice in there, its a really nice mod. U need maybe a .:R spoiler and a pair of wheels more agressive or maybe paint them.

Dub's looking good RossYes. Some nice little touches since I last saw it. Even though they were'n't your first choice of wheels, I must admit to having a bit of a soft spot for those - don't think I've seen them on an Indigo blue golf before. Wasn't it a set of Brocks you were ideally after if money was no object?

    Looking good there mate..

one thing i would say is try and mount the plate on the lower centre grill, i think it would look better and show off the smoothness of the bumper well Yes

But then again, its not my car Wink

Cheers guys, there are a few things i would still like to do, painting the wheels is one of them, im thinking cream would look great against the blue paint but we will see.  Your right dave, brock B1s would be my choice but its cash i just dont have right now so the RS4s will stay, im liking them more and more though, still loving my rear bumper as much as the day i got it too.

I did try the plate on the lower bumper but it looked a little boy racerish so i went for the bumper instead, its velcroed on sp easy to move if needed.  I have thought about LCR splitter but im not sure, some pics they look great and others they just look a bit ripspeed, what do you guys think?

Thanks paul, hope your liking the new anni.

Understand you on the cash front mate - congrats on your impending wedding! Must admit, my mkiv is taking abit of a downturn in interest these days. The RS4's deffo look good mate, very OEM - cream would definitely make them stand out!

Since I last saw you I've fitted a LCR splitter to mine - looks absolutely great. I think it has caused more comments than the R32 front from most people, and I was really happy until I scraped it on an incline into a mate's road. That doesn't sound much of an issue until I mention that it scraped the front on the road where it didn't used to (mine's only lowered 30mm), and the scraping cracked a load of very expensive Tony Payne paint off the front Super Angry

Ouch that sounds nasty mate, Tony Paynes paint certainly is expensive! I think the RS4s suit better than brocks would anyway, bit more OEM as you say, definitely more budget friendly, weddings are an expensive business!  We will have to do a meet soon so i can see the splitter, might change my mind seeing it in the flesh.

Benny I got the bumper from VAG parts just over a year ago but they are none anywhere other than TM tuning now, thats the only place you will find one but its not cheap.

Personally I like the look of Golf's without spoilers... so I would stick to how it is.

The car looks fantastic.. really a great looking golf, and the rs4's really suit it.

Not much to be honest mate, needs a machine polish and a few stone chips touched up but as for mods im pretty happy.  The only thing i would like to do is have the interior retrimmed, not done anything inside really.  Im sure another mod will come along before long that catches my eye, you never know.

Cheers guys no pics of the inside as its standard GTI interior, recaros seats and walnut dash which everyone has seen before so i didnt bother, only thing different are the anniversary pedals.  Not really bothered about the calipers really, never actually notice them, my car is also a nightmare to jack up cos its too low to get my jack under so taking the wheels off to paint the calipers never seems like a good idea.  Short aeriel is on too, looks great but the reception is awful.
