I do not have a stereo security code for my 07 GTI. Do they have them. I have disconnected the battery a few times and have not lost the code. Tomorrow i have to take the stereo out to remove the dash. If there is a code is there anyway of getting it of the unit before i disconnect it? Failing that anyone know how much disconnection time i have before code is lost?

if you look in your GTi wallet in the glove box, the card with the radio code should be on the inside front cover.
A good tip is to remove the card from the car.
If the unit was coded to the car, it's then stored in the ecu even if battery disconnected. Mine still worked after 8mths.

No. The headunit was taken out of the car for 8mths as I swaped it for the mp3 version. Then decided did not need the mp3, so put the originally unit back in.

Would this be the case for my September 07 gt sport? I have the card in my owners manual that should have the radio code on it, but mine is blank.

Mine is an 07 GTI i have disconnected the battery about 8 times with no problem. I guess yours being the same year would be the same. Don't even know if they issue codes now??
