The aircon in my GTi has stopped working.

About 2 weeks ago I noticed that it wouldnt come on until about 10 minutes after starting the car, there would be a "musty" smell and then it worked like normal until the car had been stopped for any length of time.

I was about to book it in to the Stealers to have it checked but now it wont come on at all.

Has anyone come accross this problem before, maybe its something simple like a fuse or relay, any ideas would be helpful. I dont have any info on the fuses so dont know which fuse or relay works the aircon.

I had a similar problem... it only worked on position 3 on the fan control ( I assume you have the climatic air con ). Because the car was still under warranty the replaced the fan switch but had to take most of the center dash apart to get to it. They told me its appently a fairly common problem.

 Mine has the dual climate control, but the aircon wont work in auto or manual on any fan speed, When you switch the A/C on and off you can hear the engine note change as the compressor clutches in and out but it just blows air at the outside temp. Its still under warranty but its just a pain in the a**e having to take it back to the dealers
