Yesterday, I had the aircon switched on during my journey. I turned it off briefly, and when I turned it back on a couple minutes later, ice vapours (like when you open a freezer some ice steam comes up) started coming out of all the front air vents! It stopped after 10 seconds, but I'm just wondering is this normal, or is there a problem?

I've never seen this before, anyone ever experienced this?

The car is a 1.6SE with standard aircon.

No cause for concern. It will be water vapour, condensed from the first slug of air over very cold cooling coils.

The air is very humid just now, hence the "muggy" feel outside. Makes an airconned car a nice place to be!

 My old coupe did this once, I asked a mechanic if anything to worry about and he said not as long as aircon worked ok afterwards.

If aircon not cooling properly afterwards, it may need checking and regassing but otherwise just bask in the lovely cool interior of your motor.
