I want to get rid of the 2.0 tdi badge on the back of my golf, and replace with a GT badge, can anyone advise as to the correct positioning of the GT badge as to make it look authentic (possibly how many cm from the edge of the boot), I have seen several golfs, and owners have placed the badge to far to the right for instance, or to low.

    always a VW golf.....mark 2,4,5,

    Mark 2 F' reg.
    Mark 4 S' reg GTi.
Mark 4 W'reg GTred 'i' recaro leather seats,
    Mark 5 GT 140 54 winter pack/heated seats
    Mark 5 GT 140 06 full leather winter pack/R32 xenons/eibach sportsline/ R32 alloys/ colour coded bumper and skirts.

I think you will be trying forever to get it in the right place if you remove all the badges and then try to put your GT one on, so what i would do is work backwards IE take of the 'I' on the back of your motor and put the 'T' in it's place. You will be able to line the top and the bottom parts of the 'T' with the top and bottom of the 'D' so you get the 'T' the right height and from having the other badges in front of you, you should be able to guess the spacing correctly and then take away the 'D' and do the same again for the 'G' and once they are in the right place just remove the rest of the badges as normal. That's how i would do it and that's how i put my GT badge on my GT Sport 170 (they should come with the GT badge on the back not the TSI).. Yes

Put masking tape around your old badge before you take it off, then you have a nice box to play with to get your new badge all squared up.

That's what I did and it fitted perfectly!
