MY 2004 GOLFS DRIVER SIDE SEAT HEATER HAS JUST  BURN`T ME AND LEFT A SMALL HOLE ON MY SEAT.OBVIOUSLY I SWITCHED IT OFF IMMEDIATELY.THE PASSENGER SIDE HEATER IS FINE.

ANYONE ENCOUNTERED THIS PROBLEM.?

HAS THERE BEEN A RECALL.?

ANY INFO APPRECIATED.

i`ve approached my local vw dealership raising this issue and they didn`t want to no.the stated "vw will make no good will" in relation to this.i feel badly let down and this my first vw.!!

Sorry to about your situation Jon - How old was the car? I take it from the your comments that it's now out of warranty if VW are stating there will be no good will gesture.

If I were you I'd contact VW Customer Services and explain the situation to them, especially given the fact you've been injurred and incurred some damagae to what has otherwise been a good ownership experience?

Failing that, mention Watchdog for a giggle and see what their repsonse is.

the car is only out of warranty around 3 months.it has had a full vw service history.i have explained this but they aren`t too bothered.doesn`t seem right.after all this wasn`t something i`ve done.plus it was dangerous.they said it would take around £500 to repair.guess i`ll be pulling the conactor out.

The problem is that they are easy to damage, if something sharp (like the edge of a box) or if you've ever nealt on the seat.

I would have thought that it should have cut out first though.

i`ve emailed the complaint to watch dog.it will be interesting to see if they reply.

3 Months outside of warranty... Try a different VW Dealer if you can, some can offer to help fight your case whereas others will just try and bill you.

I had the same problem but with my mk4. Fortunately, it was under warranty. It burned through the seat and burnt my bum!

I seem to remember someone else approaching watchdog a few years ago. If you have a search, I'm sure you'll find the thread.
