Driving about earlier I popped to Foxhunters estate for a service/MOT quote from a garage there who serviced my car last. As I was leaving, I came around the corner at the top in the middle of the road around a parked car when suddenly a van was in front of me..... The result?????

He was trying to get me to accept liability and saying I was bombing about like a loony, which anyone who knows my driving, I do not do around town as I respect my car and other people too much. This is what his vehicle had damage wise...

Down to insurers now but I can't see how it was my fault:
    1. He was reversing into a more major road, illegal????
    2. He had parked cars blocking his view
    3. If he was stationary, as he claims, why is the damage on my car more at the front and rear with nothing major on the door? A stationary car wouldn't cause that.

Car couldn't drive so is in repair shop now but I really hope she's repairable as she's my pride n joy
Proper gutted and p*ssed off. Was a year ago on Saturday gone that my MG was wrote off :?

So, opinions on if it's repairable?

sorry to hear about the accident mate, hope all parties are ok!

It might get written off considering the damage on the rear panel! Hope it all works out OK!

Reversing onto a main road is illegal so you should be covered there.

He was reversing out onto my road from a sidestreet, premesis place (along the line of cars that are visible over his bonnet in last pic). I'm 90% sure my headlights were on too so I was visible enough if they were. People thinking 50-50 blame or more him/me???

    Hi Mate,

    Glad you're ok.

Looks repairable to me.  It's three panels.  The rear quarter will be the most tricky, but still easily fixable.  If it's borderline, you could always offer to supply the door and wing yourself to reduce the repair cost - I did this in the past for an ex and it just managed to save her car as it was borderline write-off...

I believe the insurance would find him at fault for emerging from a side/minor road onto a main road, plus he was the one doing the manouver (reversing) so the onus is on him to take greater care, thats my initial opinion without having all the information.  Hope it goes your way.  All the best with that.

Sorry to hear about the accident, gutted about the damage, looks pretty bad Sad hope you can get it fixed!

i dont think you have much to worry about if he reversed out on you ! but with your cars age i dont think they will write it off ? it used to be 2/3rds of the cars value limit on repairs costs when i last worked in the car trade

It is a write off. Garage say over £4000 of damage done.

dont worry bud, only a bit of metal.

    it shouldn't write it off,

worst bit is the quarter, the rest is cosmetic

hope they dont try and pin it on ya,

Feel sorry for you mate. £4000 worth of damage is alot. Were you fully comp?  Have the insurers offered you a settlement payment?

Stick to your guns...do not accept its your fault at all.

Just say i was pulling out and i seen a var facing the opposite direction so i pulled out and i then i realised he was reversing and BANG!

Ageeesss ago...my unc was reversing out a street onto a a main road and a car smashed into the back of him. He got 6 points and it was his fault...

Revesing is illegal on the main road and by law, he should have done a legal 3 point turn....

Be ready though...you got a hell of a battle ! You should just claim off your insurance for now and let them fight the battle but if you win, you'll get the money paid extra on the isnruance costs back and if its 50/50, it will just be a 50/50 claim.

Hope it works out for you mate..ask how much to buy your car back and get Jake to sort it !  Probs b a CAT D

the only thing that might need to go for a shop for is the rear quarter, everything else is a bolt on bolt off component

i crashed my car about a year ago and did very similar damage. including damage to the rear quarter
