Righto then, if i was to get my PD130 remapped is the standard clutch able to cope? i know the 150's have problems with the clutch but what like is the 130?

If it isnt then what clutch do you guys reccomend and how much is said clutch going to set me back?

Also where is the extra power, does it come at the same kinda rev range and just last longer, or is it an instant thrill as soon as the foot hits the floor?

Most cars i think will end up with clutch slip because of the big increase in torque,my 150 got mapped and the clutch started to slip about 2k after but the car had done 100k on the original clutch but put another standard clutch back in cos i am tight and couldnt afford an uprated one,and on that one i am on about 111k now and am sure just starting to slip slightly again.

But despite this get it done i know the 115 as standard have got some grunt but with the small turbo they run out of steam pretty quick so chipped up i can only imagine its worse but on the 130's i have been in and 150;s inclucing mine they pull all the way through which was improved even more with non restricted milltek system which also helps life of turbo and up's responce time

its been around 6,000 miles since i had my pd130 remapped from AMD, and the clutch is still going good *touch wood* on 88,000 miles...

i think if your clutch goes it would be best to get a sachs performance clutch.. i'm not too sure if you have to replace the flywheel though..

with regards to your last point it all depends on the type of map you get.. some are more instant power where other maps (like mine) allow the car to pull all through the rev range.. although you cant drive the car like a petrol, for ideal performance you need to shift up at around 3,700 rpm as thats where peak power is..

    hope that helps

     Hi all,

I have a 03 reg Bora sport tdi 6spd, and am worried to thinking about getting it remapped around £250 to £500 depending where you go then if the clutch goes its like £700.00 which is alot of cost, me car has only done 42k I dont drive it hard but its the feeling of paying so much.

Would you say the power is worth the cost.....

i had a sachs uprated clutch fitted to my 130 PD before I had it remapped, cos I heard things about clutch slipping and mine was just starting to make noises so got uprated one fitted by JBS - good price and service. No problems since and sachs not a heavy feel. money well spent, but not cheap tho'

by the way the remap is the best thing I have done to the car, if I had known how different it would make it, I would have done it as soon as i bought the car. it is soooo torqueee, pulls from low down in any gear, goes like stink, 6 is a gear, and economy improved overall - although not when given it some stick, but as soon as you take your foot off the loud pedal economy shoots up. I got an increase of about 5mpg giving it some stick, with the odd bit of economical driving.

So the answer is - yes it most definitely is worth the money.

I think the major trouble is when its remapped people get lazy with it having more power i didnt seem to gear down as much and just accelerated in low revs in 4th n 5th in low revs etc i know i did and a few others have mentioned it but drive like that on the uprated one and it would still slip i reckon, just drive to the correct speed and gearing and it should be fine

I think it comes down to how the car is driven, as mentioned above. When I had mine mapped I drove it like I stole it and things went wrong... :-

    1) Turbo Blew - my fault for not letting the car stand after racing, and hammering it when it's cold
    2) Clutch went - my fault for driving like an idiot and constantly running 0-60 trails with my gtech.

Got an uprated Sachs clutch and a new turbo but i'm a lot more careful now. The sachs clutch can take some serious abuse.

    GT..... It's good to torque

     Hey Guys,

Thanks for the advise first of all.

Can someone advise how much a Sachs clutch would be supplied and fitted, I am based in Leeds.

Also best places for a remapp, I dont hammer my car but I am putting on 18inch wheels on my bora 130 tdi sport so I would like the power to be able to cope with the wheels and a full car load if needed.

If you hurry its free fitting on Sachs uprated clutches at AMD this month! Yes

    See here:- http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/211150.aspx

As for your remap, go and see Paul at RS tuning in Leeds. He'll do you a custom remap for the price of most generic remaps, very good value for money, with a dyno runs to prove too! Smile

     Hey,

Up date got the car remapped the car is al complete and feels nice to drive with a nice increase of power throught the rev range.

I went for the ST3 from Chipped UK who garrenteed me the cltuch would be fine. I have the eco map and the performance map which is nice to be able to change from the 2.

Well worth it now with the 18inch wheels on and the coilovers and spacers and a full car it really does pull like a train which keeps on going in even in 6th gear. Big Smile

As for the clutch the cars done now 46k and due a service Indifferent. Think I will just have to deal with that when I come around to it really, other then that am not a heavey driver like iv stolen the car, love to cruise and try to enjoy my car.

I havent posted any pics up as I dont no how to I dont no if this will work but I am going to attach a before and after below.

If locally nothing lower then 40mpg on a long run I get nothing lower then 60mpg but my car is due a service. So I am yet to see out of a full tank before I used to get over 600miles now I get around 660 if this helps dont no if this is good or not yet I still need to service the car.

Wow 60mpg thats pretty good mate. Out of mine on the 'Fast Road' map I get about 45-50mpg on motorway and 40-45mpg driving around town. BUt i think I need a new MAF as the one I have got toasted by water passing through it (long story)...

Looks very tidy Suny, you have the same wheels as my golf tdi 130 - what tyres have you gone for?

The remap sounds really interesting, can you switch between ECO and performance at any time? what sort power increase have you achieved?

     Hey Dm993,

    check the same post out,

Its well good you can change from eco bein 158bhp I think and performance which is fast road 170bhp round abouts, eco highest I have seen 65 70mpg driving steady on cruise from leeds to london.

Tyres are the ones which came with the car nankangs I think, when they were out am gonna get some nicer ones I think.

Are yours 18inch to, I had to put 15mm spacer on the rear and 5mm spacer on the front to get the stance tho, Dont no what et they are.
