As the title, my girlfreind 106 has been playing up since day one of buying it, we have had the car diagnosed by my mates laptop computer and is throwing up a fault relating to the throttle position sensor, it's stalls from time to time and stutters around 3K revs and struggles to start. Another freind that works for Peugeot main dealers Keighley has just phoned me to say the part is around £550!!! The 106 is excellent condition but it's not worth spending £550 pound on this sensor, so i am trying to find a good breakers yard, i'm aware that i could buy another sensor from a breakers and that could have the same problem but i don't have any other options but leave it, [we can't afford £550 having just bought our first house and doing it up etc] the only thing is, it cuts out when coming of bypasses onto roundabouts etc and it's not safe, it cuts out at the worst time possible [seems to be when you put your foot on the clutch and let the car rev down of it's own accord, and obviously i don't want my girlfrieind in any kind accident because of this fault.

Any help would be appreciated people!

Thanks Dave, do you know what the 'NBSP' is?

    Throttle position sensor,

^^ that's the part i have been qouted on, the error which has been thrown up is to do with throttle position sensor only, i can see the sensor under the bonnet, it looks like a maf (ie just a little black box with some wires going into it). I don't know what the 'NBSP' bit is?

I can't say for sure Aiden but I think it's something to do with the programming on the site rather than anything to do with the item itself. Confused. Alternatively, I could have just made a very embarassing error!!

Best bet would be to call them and make sure it's the right part.

Got a new sensor on order from Andrew Pages in Keighley and arrives tomorrow so hopefully it should sort it, i was told that you couldn't order the sensor without all the rest of the gubbins that goes with it from Peogeot, a quick phone call to Lucas who make the sensor, told me that they can't sell one direct to me but can put me in touch with a distributor in my area that can, so thanks for help Dave and Davo! We was looking for a little VW Polo (MK4 1.4CL) for my Girlfriend for around £2000 but all the ones we went to see which were supposedly 'mint', were all shagged out examples, in the end up the little 106 turned up, it's a lovely little car theres not a mm of rust on it, it was low mileage 55K (now 65K i think) on a 98 'S' and immaculate inside. But from day one of buying it, it's had this issue, my guess is that the previous owners had the car diagnosed at Peogeot and was told that the part for it was over £550 and then ran a mile! She's after a Seat Ibiza (new shape) but money is tight at the moment so it's on the back burner.. I'll let you know how i get on mate. Yes

By the way.. I would reccommend getting your 206 scanned with a diagnostics machine, we didn't know the 106 had a diagnostics port on the car, my freind who works for Peugeot told me it did so i was able to get the car scanned by another mechanic mate, and up came the fault!
