So Guys and Gals I am after some opinions really as me alloys are a bit tired (Laquer peeling etc) looking and I am looking to get them refurbed.. Currently they look like this:-  (PS Sorry quick Camera Phone pics again)

I am thinking while I am on the refurb vibe I might have a slight change of colour but not 100% sure if I should leave the CH's the standard colour or go for something different..  Definitely not going black was thinking Charcoal/Anthracite but cant make me mind up....Quite like the look of PATS wheel colour so PAT if your watching what colour are your wheels?

I know someone who has had this silver on similar alloys and they look bang on:-

SO WHAT DO THINK ANY OPINIONS WELCOME...............................

I am here Big Smile - you know I don't think I've seen pictures of your car before and my word it's sweet! Not usually a fan of the extended bonnet but that really does look good mate Yes

My wheels are RAL 9006 which is 'White Aluminium Pearl'

If you look on a RAL chart, 9006 looks very silvery though, but at the place I used www.wheelrepair.co.uk he showed me all the powders he had (made by Akzo Nobel) and mine is definitely 9006

I just googled that and I got a few images just like my colour Yes

I like this finish by motormadj would look good on your car.

I do like the colour of those calipers though!

On a black car, something light would work best IMO.  Dark coloured wheels seem to lose all the detail when fitted onto a dark coloured car.

Either pearl white, chrome rim with dark centre or normal silver would suit, if you ask me...

yeah, light car dark wheels, dark car light wheels, black on black doesnt work,

pats are nice but why not be original and go for something different, tbh i think they suit as is, but you can get ghost chrome etc that look really nice

    Thanks people..

So Andy what colour is that on the Calipers looks pretty good TBH...

Cheers PAT...  Got to say I have googled that colour and it looks pretty good... Now I am even more confused than ever.....SH***  before I was in between 2-3 colours and now torn between 5-6.... Confused

By the way PAT have been meaning to put up pics in the members ride for ages and when I got around to it the flipping camera well fell of real high place as I was trying to get some decent shots needless to say it didnt survive.. Will have to put up some more pics up soon...

Back to the wheels I will have another scour around and take a trip on the weekend to some refurb places to get an idea.....

I did mine in RAL 9007 which is Dark Aluminium. They're OK, but feel they're a bit 'flat' and not metallic enough. I'm sure if I got them lacquered it would be much better though:

However I'm having a change now and am getting these new alloys powder coated in silver at Bournes Powder Coaters:

I should have some finished pictures next week. If money was no object I would have gone for Black Chrome, but Bournes don't do that.

I would say POWDER as it is more durable than the normal run of the mill paint and clear.

my wheels are painted and already showing signs of chipping so given teh choice it would HAVE to be powder coating

It's not really an 'either/or' choice. When you get your rims powder coated they apply the colour and afterwards they apply the clear coat. without that you wouldn't have adequate UV protection and silver metallic finishes would suffer. I just didn't bother on my rims at the time, but I definitely think it's preferable. On the matt black ones they're left unlacquered too (although you can get matt/satin finish lacquers). I'm getting these powder coated silver now including lacquer, so they should come out well. However there's the 'high power' silver which has a white powdery base and standard silver which is more like a grey. I think Bournes have done mine in standard unfortunately, but I'll find out when I collect them...

Thats what I was thinking a high Power Silver might have to ask PAT for a close up of his and see what they look like..  I know a Powder coating place that will literally charge me next to nothing to powder coat them but problem is that they only do 4 colours 1 silver which is too grey and dull for my liking...

Need to give laptab a call and see what their process is.  I was thinking http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk/File/wheel-finishing-process.php with a high power silver finish...  They ahev a video on that page too...

They seem to have a good reputation and I have seen some of their work and was quite impressed not the cheapest but you have to pay for quality...

the problem with ral colours is that there all solid colours ie no clear coat, even the silvers and golds, as its more of an industrial paint system,so they cant use as corse of flake as it wont shine at all lol

I'd deffinitely go with silver Tan especially wth the black car Yes

I had some done at Bournes in Birminghan, while they were certainly cheap I didn't think that they were all that good and the lacquer crazed very quickly and that was before the tyres were fitted.

    Howdy Neil,

Yeh know what you mean about Bournes...  I have used them quite often but never for wheels just for suspension parts etc...I see what you mean about the lacquer.. Still think the high Power Silver is edging ahead on Poll at the moment...
