    Hi peeps,

I've searched the forum and can't find the exact answer to my question. I'm thinking of getting my car remapped and I can't decide who to go with. Is there a remap which is supposed to go particularly well with the DSG box? So far I'm considering Revo as they quote more power than superchips. Anyone with experience of revo, how do you find it? Is it easy to put the power down? Are the gear changes like it was when standard?

Are there any offers on Revo at the moment? I think it's £586 with VAT. I might be totally crazy and see if I can get my car booked in at mega4.co.uk tomorrow! That place is 2mins from me. Anyone been to that garage?

    Cheers,

    Rye

it's a bit further but can I suggest you talk to JMK before doing your remap as they have a special on Revo atm.

My old man has Revo on his MKV GTI 2.0 TFSI and it is a really nice map. 100 mph appears on the clock quickly and smoothly without any fuss.

I would pay www.thephirm.co.uk a visit. Local to you and thats where he had his done.

They do all the work on my car as well and just looking at the forums and PVW every month you can see how highly rated they are.

To be fair it was only done a couple of thousand miles ago and he hasn't said anything to me about feeling any clutch slip - car is a late '06 with very few miles as well.

Do I remember you saying something at AMD about yours starting to go?

Mark, I'd stick to the same one as Mike Roberts.

What makes you say that wellsy? Mike was recommending Revo to me.

Anyone have any bad reports of using Revo? Blown turbos? Clutch slip?

His is pretty smooth and has none of the jerkiness that you can get when remapping the DSG.   I would go with the tried and tested.   He also told me he liked the map so I'm not sure why he told you Revo.  He did have Revo in his last car though.

Does anyone have experience of a revo remap with a DSG box? is it smooth?

Just a quickie - the amount of torque forced on the gearbox seems to be what tends to cause issues on the GTI DSG models - as long as the torque doesn't go too high (I forget the figure, it's on posts here somewhere I think) then that issue won't apply.

Bluefin on GTIs (standard 200pd) is fine, but on Edition 30s used to have significant smooth running problems although I'd hope by now that's improved.  Jim (fastismycopilot) did a fair bit of testing when the DSG map was introduced for Edition 30s earlier in the year.

No experience of Revo sorry dude

    Rye,

Given the choice from scratch, Revo is my preferred tuner, simply because I've had it on my old cars and I know them and their work very well.

As you know my new car came mapped already by Superchips, the Bluefin (now its been updated) is excellent - rapid & no jerking/laggy changes. It hadn't been updated since Jan '07 and the progress they'd obviously made in tailoring their maps was very evident. I'm not sure I could be bothered trying to split differences between the two, so therefore I would highly recommend both.

The only thing to consider is what you intend to do in the future? if you're just happy with a map then pick either... if you plan to mod the engine more, then Revo will be more adaptable to your needs.

Get some trials under your belt and pick which suits you best - they're both very reputable tuners and have dealers near you.

I got my car remapped by Revo today! Woah, it is insane! The roads are a bit wet at the moment to get all the power down. Can't wait for them to dry out. The map feels perfectly smooth between gear changes too. More than happy with it.. My wallet feels £586 lighter though.

The DSG feels fine. It feels exactly like it did stock, but insanely quick! I couldn't imagine how the GTI could be any faster before I got it remapped, now I realise it can be! It's quite hard to get the power down in 1st and the traction control light seems to come on a lot more. I'll have to get used to feathering the accelerator pedal a bit more.

Yeah it slipped a bit at full boost. decided to get a Sachs replacement fitted as was getting annoyed at the slight delay when i booted it.

don't like the clutch bedding in process tho..its heavy alright and 1st gear chatter / judder is a bit of a pain.

only done 300 miles since fitting so bit more to go before it settles down.

its great in gear tho, locks on and no more slipping at full boost.
