hi, i am relatively new to this site and i am wanting to lower the suspension on my 3 door indigo blue 2.0 gti. can i get away with replacing just the springs with lowering springs or do i have to go down the shock and spring route or coilovers??? i have a limited budget of roughly £200 for the equipment. would 40mm be ok with my rs8 18s reps and still not look too high?! any cars pictured with 18s and lowered 40mm would be gratefully appreciated.

    Thanks...Rob

I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars...the rest i wasted!!! George Best

Anything over 40mm you will have to get coilovers with new arb. I'd say get some springs cheaper and should look low. Hope thats helps

if you're going down the lowering springs route its best to upgrade the shocks as well as it well save you future labour costs and give you better results. Although you may be able to get away with just eibach 30mm springs if you shocks are relatively new.

It's always best to get matched springs and shocks as it'll perform better and lowered springs put extra strain on standard shocks. With your budget have you thought about these...

Ive got the same vehicle, and Ive been thinking of going to that route. Has anyone tried the Janspeed Coilovers? Im attracted to those ones over the Hottuning ones for some reason? And those are about 216 gbp?
