After searching I couldn’t find a guide on how to fit an R32 front onto my gt tdi, so here is how I done it in case anybody wants to use this as a rough idea., on fitting R32 front on a standard golf , without the slam panel.
First remove the front bumper and locate the upper cross bar as seen in the photo, it is not complete box section, but a U shape, so I inserted the blade from a hacksaw ( you could use a dremel if you have one), and I cut along the mould/join mark.
Now cut along the line up to the centre were the brace connects the upper and lower for support, cut the other side to suit, so you are left with it looking something like this.

Then I fit the bumper and realised it needed to be trimmed back too, so I cut the bumper around the centre bracket to allow it to fit flush ( I had to cut it back about an inch), and realised I would have to trim the bumper again, around the guides below the headlights, and also at the where the bumper is fixed to the slam panel, under the bonnet. I remember thinking wow this is good just spent all this money and now I am hacking away at it with a hacksaw. See pic for where I had to cut … This was just a case of cut and fit, until I had trimmed it back enough until it fit nice,

Now that the bumper fits in place, it was time to see how to fasten it on, I realised all the fixings from my old bumper would go on, only the there was too much pull on the screws on the upper slam panel, and realised that the way I had cut the upper cross member out, meant I was left with the flat part, which has 4 holes in total ( originally used as fixing point for old bumper), I could use 2 of these hole to pull the bumper up, as the bumper had 2 holes also which matched perfectly with my upper cross member. So I got two 2” 10mm bolts with nylock nuts, and cut them to size, and used these to support the bumper.
Here you can see the trimmed parts, and the bolt I used to hold the bumper up in place.

And this is what it looks like fitted once the grill has been fitted, glad to say the cutting I made is not on show in any way, and I painted to bolts black so they couldn’t be seen from through the grill. And incase you are worried about seeing the cuts I made here is a shot of it with the bonnet open, and the 32 changed to TD to suit the car better.

Hope this helps somebody out, one thing I forgot to mension is you will need new black screws to hold the lower grills in place, cant remember if i needed 4 or 6 screws. Anyway hope somebody gets some use out of this.
