hi guys , i sent my mrs down to the local bodyshop to ask about getting the front and rear valances colour coded , the guy has told her that the bumpers will have to be removed in order to get the valances off . is this right or are they just trying to get more cash ????

 That's not true, and getting bumpers off isn't exactly a big deal anyway, most people can get the front bumper off in less than 2 minutes, the rear can't be that much harder.

you dont even need to take the bumper off you just need to lever the black trim out with a screw driver and its out!  heres a pic on mine to prove it...

then they can colour code them like that, and it makes it a hell of a lot cheaper!

 the bodyshop told me the same thing, but just tell them there are three screws and the valance clips out.. i paid £50 to have both my valances colour coded..

there wernt any screws holding my valances on so they just clip on and off, easy as pie.

and for reference, removing the rear bumper isnt hard but its a pai, you have to remove the rear lights to get to a plastic rivet and its a pan when you cant find the insert for it

o shoot read it wrong, yeh its just screws mate, take them off the car so they dont have to mask the car up...

yeh probably, they think the valance and bumper are one whole part..

 Depends where you work i suppose,at work here we always take bumpers off to fit the valances because its easier putting pressure on them to get them to clip together when on a solid surface and easier to turn bumper over if one of the clips isnt going in + like just been mentioned its a 2min job

guess ill just have to look else where or take them off myself , thanks again for the quick responses guys much appreciated  

 depends what type of job you want doing, cheap is paintint the valence on the car, mid is taking it off and primering it then painting off and refitting , doing it propperly you take the bumper off then the valence off prime and flat both the valence and bumper and paint both taking the colour into the lower half of the bumper, this way it all matches and looks brand new. not too bad on dark colours but silvers its pretty much a must for a good match

 hey jake what sort of price would i expect to pay to get the job done right as my golf is reflex silver , just so ive got a price to compare with this bodyshop
