Original thread here on loss of power on my AGU..

    http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/216262.aspx

After that i went to see Blackmagic20vt off this forum as advised by PAT.

Just like to say a massive thanks to blackmagic20vt for sorting my car out when 2 supposed tuning experts and 2 steelers could fix it and made me replace around £500 worth of parts.

Arrived to meet up with Blackmagic20vt parked the car up on his drive and out he came... He spent the first 20 minutes getting all the info off me of what I had done and what parts I had changed.  He then started the car up and started the car up and started to listen to the engine.  At this point I was a bit confused a man with VAGCOM all them tools and he hadnt touched them yet but insisted on listening to the engine?

Revved it up took it for a spin and as we came back he figured out 60% of the problem by driving it how I dont know?  I asked him and he told me to listen to the engine can you hear that he kept saying like it was a misfire I ket saying sort of but to be honest I had no idea what he was talking about lol nut agreed with him.

He then VAG COMMED the car no faults as he suspected did some data logging for about 10 mins and then took out a box of tricks it  contained a home made boost leak tested 1 can of that magic nighclub style smoke in a can and a multimeter.

At this point I was seriously havng second thoughts thinking WTF is going on here it seemed like the same thing that the steeler and specialist had done prviously.  He then checked the MAF, Plugs, IAT sensor etc etc. Then the boost leak tested my car and finally started to jack the car up.  He then jacked the car up undid the lambda plug and checked some voltage from a black box.

To cut a long story short in less than a hour he discovered 2 vac leaks, 1 x slight boost leak and all importantly he discovered that there was a slight difference in the lambda reading it was only out by 0.3v or somthing like that but he seemed adament that he had found the problem(s).

Two vac lines replaced with silicone items, 1 jubilee clamp replaced with a mikalor clamp the PCV system reclamped and a new lambda sensor got me back to 200+ BHP which had been missing for months and months.

To say I was shocked was an understatement I cannot believe the knowledge of this guy and all this he had guessed without anything other than a multimeter even before VAG COM and all that logging he was 80% sure about the issues.

Just goes to show after spending literally £100's at this no one discovered the problem just goes to show there is nothing like an old fashoned mechanic.  Or thats what I thought as I suspected with all this knowledge he was a mechanic by trade.  How wrong was I when he told me he was head of IT for some financial institue in the city and did this as a hobbie?

Just wanted to firstly than Blacmagic20vt for sorting the car out owe you loads of beers stil lol.  And also to PAT for pointing me in the direction of this chap.  Its people like this i what makes this forum so great.

    Thanks again.

God how i'd missed that power lol.

Nice.  Glad to hear it mate, all sorted out.  I've always had ultimate respect for Blackmagic20v and his opinions.  While not having conversed with him personally, his advice on this forum is undoubtedly valuable, and this place would be a lot worse off without him.

Cheers blackmagic for all your advice on all things 1.8T related (especially AGU Geeked)

As coolagu has said, and undoubtedly many others, thanks for your input.  Just wish I lived a little closer to you...
