     Hey guys,

Here are my tempoary new wheels they are 17's the pics are of the rear which are 10 inces wide running a 215 / 45 tyre, fairly big stretch!

Im liking the look but petrified of putting them on and i have no idea how safe these are?

If anyone has any recomendations as to a better sized tyre? or whether u thinks these will be fine for regular use,   obviously no silly suggestions of the correct tyre for the wheel or it wont fit! lol!

    On the privious owners car,

    Thanks

    Pete

Mine have a reasonable stretch on them not quite as much as those and i can fling it round corners here there and everywhere with know problems at all. But with your new found power it maybe a better idea to get a bit more rubber down?

I love these wheels, had a set on my MK3 Golf VR6, just not quite as wide on the back! Surprise

I'd go for a slightly better tyre on the back, whats it running on the front?  I got scared from running staggered wheels as the rolling radius's need to be pretty close (<4% difference) IIRC.

     the front is 205 /45/17 on a 8.5

    the rear is 215/45/17 on a 10

How do you work out the rolling radious?

With great difficulty on a stretched tyre sadly!  With a bit of maths it could be done I suppose.

they dont look to bad imo, doubt they would produce them if they had too many safety concerns....

Well, im running 18'' Porka cup 2 split rims, 8'' up front 10'' on da rear, with 225/40/18 front and 235/35/18 on da rear

small stretch on the rear, just enough to follow the lines of the rear arch, plus being a daily driver with 3 kids I cant take the chance etc!

Pete if you wanna check for rolling radius a cheapo and not 100% acurate way is getting some flat sort of material like a ribbon for presents and roll it round the tire. this will give you the rolling radius... just measure it on each and work out what the difference is.

if i where you id be more concerned about front stretch. remember the rear only kicks in after you get traction loss in the front. mine have a slight stretch 215/35/18 on a 8inch and i havent felt them slip or feel like giving way yet... but then again i havent really been pushing my very very hard as its been a bit limp with the pool alternator lol.

pete if i where you id go for a minimal stretch on the front for traction and go for a "the look" stretch on the back and not worry too much... just remember i think you have to run slightly higher PSI if they are stretched someone please correct me if im wrong

I would go either 35 or 40 at most on the profole, as I think 45's will look to thick, even when I had 235-40-18 on the rear with a small stretch it still made the tyre look thicker than it was!

A mate of mine sorted out my tryes!  sadly they were only  part worn with 7mm on then!  still have them on today after 8 months or so running my pork rims!

with 235/35/18 on rear and 225/40/18 up front

and these where when she had 235/40/18 shoes! looks much thicker in the wall.

I personally i would stay well away from 45's as the profile will be too dam think!

Sorry for the pics not the best I know, but give some idea anyway! lol..

OK well there on 45's at the moment i guess its needed to fit on the wheel,

Can anyone recomend somewhere that fits stretched tyres?

Anywhere should be able to fit stetched tyres for you, just some places might kick up a fuss if they are too stretched which you aren't doing.

I get mine done at KwikFit of all places, I just keep an eye on them while they are doing the tyres. Yes
