Since I've been here a while I've been meaning to post a thread up but never got round to it.

Got my golf when I was 17. Saved up for 2 summers working full time.

Decided on a GT TDI  and got the 110. I was rather specific...black, 5 door with gt spec. After 3 months of looking I seen one. My neighbour whos a trader done all the checks and what not then picked it up.

This was the car when i first got it.

    15/08/2007

    24/04/2008

Just after new year and a few thousand miles of driving the clutch started to go....So in went a vr6 clutch and lightened flywheel - 14lbs.

    10/07/2008

Then I hit a pothole and it seemed to destroy my steering rack. So after running it untill it made more noise than the engine I admited defeat and fitted a new one. (thanks to diggy for crashing on the way to help me fit itChucklelove you really.)

Recently while my dad was driving the waterpump burst. So that set me back a fair whack. No (cheers dad lol)

    20/08/2008

My engine bay was looking rather tatty so I got some bad ass degreaser from my mates garage and a hot pressure washer.

    The results were rather spectacular.

I fitteed an Allard EGR delete pipe and cleaned my inlet manifold. Probabbly the single best thing I've done to the car.

    08/10/2008

I spent a few months looking for wheels, I wanted something thats not common or a replica due to added wegiht so opted for the Leon Cupra 225 wheels.

I managed to get a mint set which Im pretty chuffed about.

These wont be getting fitted just yet as I'm not too keen on the tractor look.

    17/10/2008

After my dad got his new merc which had a black rooflining, I was thinking about getting one. Then I seen the guy that has Lommondgolf's old car and that made my mind up.

I dyed it using the 5L tub of chemical carpet dye from valeterspride.co.uk. I wasn't convinced it was going to work with the headliner being a nylon type material.

I sprayed all the lights and handles using matt black PlastiKote from b&q at £4.80 a can.

Surprisingly it went down a treat.

    22/10/2008

To finish off the black headliner, I thought I'd be aswell replacing the white boot surround.

Bargain at only £16 next day brand new in a sealed bag from ebay. Dealers wanted £24.90 with 10 day wait.

Big thanks to Diggy for hiding the silver boot struts from the scrap yard up his sleeve. Yes

    25/10/2008

Today was the first nice day I've had for a few weeks so i decided to fit my cruise. Everything went well and it only took about 2 hours.

    01/11/2008

Today I fitted my new Weitec Hicon Gt coilovers supplied by Damian @ DPM - Thanks.

So far I've found the weitecs extremly good. They were a bt bouncy at first, but after the 100mile drive home, I either got used to them or they bedded in a bit. Very impressed, alot better than i thought they would be.

Also not go any rubbing on the arb. Smile

Also put my new LCR wheels on Wink Got some Falken 452's on them as they were 59 a corner.

Golden boy parked up beside me lol.

    Random stuff :)

And finally a picture with my main man diggy (notice his stoved in front end lol)

MMMM hot pressure wash. (Gave it a full polish and wax after)

    November

Got some spacers as it looked dreadful without them.

End of the month Edinburgh meet with diggy and craig.

I think its about time I updated this.

Not alot happened recently, just a rear wiper blank and a private plate (from the other half Yes).

    Horrible winter weather.

    Last but not least....>>coming soon<<

Things that will be happening pretty soon.

    Black headliner fitted. Done 17/10/2008

312mm brakes. Scrapped, Watch this space. Wink

    Tints on the windows.

    Lowered. Done 01/11/2008

    LCR alloys. Fitted 01/11/2008

    Cruise. Done 25/10/2008

    VNT-17 turbo from a 150. (purchased 30/10/2008)

And the rest that goes with it to come early late next year. Smile

Hope you enjoyed reading, any comments welcome Yes.

I didnt expect the wheels to be in such good nick. Was plesently surprised when i unpackaged them. Smile

I found an old airless fence sprayer in the shed. Cuprinol sprayer retails around £25. You can get a cheaper one from B&Q for around £15.

It stops the black soot from the exhaust going back into the air intake. The intake manifold gets clogged up with oily/carbon soot and less air can get in. So once you clean the intake manifold you fit the egr pipe and it stops the moudly soot clogging up the intake. And the car feels better and more responsive.

And 5 door ftw Big Smile

    Diggy.........neither i have lol.

Heres a little teaser of the black headliner. Will get better pics when its not dark.

I think you might call this a hijacking of a thred but you seem like the guy to ask!...

I'm definitely going to clean my inlet, have you got any advice/pics to help me out? I am not mechanical but I'm not stupid or female either :)

Where did you get the delete pipe from? how much etc?

I am also feeling my clutch go I think, so any advice on a new one would be awesome too - mines a 150 tdi.

    Cheers :)

I'll find some pictures and info of my inletmanifold and stuff and post it up here.

I dont know much about the clutch as 150tdis are 6 speed and a completly different box setup and clutch size.

I'd also appreciate some info on cleaning out the inlet manifold and then cost/fitting/where to source a delete pipe.

    Thanks guys Yes

I sprayed everything using a can of plastikote matt black from b & q, £4.80 odds.

I've yet to do the door seals. I'll be getting new ones in the next few weeks so didnt bother dying them as they would just need re done.

My black boot surround for the rear window should be here tomorrow. Big Smile

It hasnt made the inside feel that small to be honest.  I guess with some rear tinits it might feel a bit smaller.

Thats the dye. I used a curpinol fence sprayer I found in the shed.

For the seals...I'm just going to dye them too. I would get anni ones but as far as i know, they were only 3 doors. Sad

well done Adam.  your Golf looking mint.

I guess you don't really need those Cupra 225 alloys.  I know a lovely home for them Smile

Need some help with Vagcom check, Keys/Immobilser adaption, cluster swapping, Miles till Empty/Illuminated Needles, Autowindows, ECU swapping//coding etc... PM me :) Pics of the aRd automobile http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/p/239924/1548484.aspx#1548484
