hello im new to the forum, im 17 and have recently bought my first car! There are a few things i want to do to it such as tint the back 3 windows, get the front bumper re painted due to the silly previous owner, refurbish the alloys which have been lighly curbed and adjust the tail pipe. Would be good for any comments on what you think and how i could sort the tail pipe out just to make it fit in the cut out more central. Also about lowering, if you think it needs it? Thanks for Any comments! Ant

about the tints. you might like the fact that limo black al around the back looks nice (like i did) but in the night, you can barely see anything outside so if i was you dont get limo black especially on the rear screen. 20% around the back would look descent and if you put anything on the front, technically it is illegal but if you do get the lightest tint which allows someone to see the driver through it in the night then i dont really think the coppers would be so fussy about it but thats up to you really

Awesome looking car mate. Likeing the smoothed anni valances. Get that grilled painted black and get it lowered. Looks good without tints TBH!

Yeah, ,get your tip shortened and maybe a slightly larger tip put on but dont get a huge one....Try to keep it OEM.

I'd look into a new back box to fit that gap mate as that tip is way to small, With my old car i got a new back box welded on to fit a gap £100 all in, easily worth the outcome of it and didn't sound bad either, Lowered and a sprayed front bumper that will look lovely mate, Maybe consider colour coding the sides yourself then that will set it off, 35% rear and 50% front tints is the best in my opinion, check out my build thread on my signature to check em out, Nice first motor Yes

Colour code the rub strips, door handles, lower it on a decent kit 35mm, put some Aero wipers on front and back, sort the exhaust out, then I'd say the exterior is complete!

     Welcome matey :D

Mint first car.... You can adjust the rear exhaust by the clamp which attaches to the rubber seal. Just get two pliers and start bending until it fits

But I'd get a new bigger one and they sound fairly decent on the 1.4as long as you get one with baffles in it!

Lowered, colour cde the sides and handles.... You got a nice first car :D

    Best of luck with it

Thanks for all these comments, really good hearing the advice. I live in Norwich alex atari so quite a way away from you! Theres been a few comments on lowering the car about 35 mm, just wondering what parts would i need to do this, i dont knoe much about lowering atall, but have seen you can get away with just changing the springs if it isnt a great deal and aslo if you are on a tight budget. Just wondering if that is true? Thanks again. Ant

If you change the springs you should really change the shocks aswell as the standard ones take alot of wear and tear and soon enough you will need new ones anyway.

Very nice! I'd just drop it 35mm, and get that pipe sorted,

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GOLF-MK4-ANNIVERSARY-180BHP-EXHAUST-MILLTEK-4-ROUND_W0QQitemZ260306460938QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item260306460938&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

There's a anniversary back box (which is what your rear bumper was desgined to fit) I don't think it'll fit straight on, but you might be able to make it fit using reducer pipes.

That's a really nice first car!!

If you're on a budget, there's a thread floating around with budget mods. I like the idea of colour coding but that's £££'s! How about going the opposite way and buying some black fablon to do the grill and b pillar? I've done a chop for you.

I've lowered it a little too so you can see what it'll look like.

Just needs that exhaust pipe straightening out and you'll have a great looking car.

That looks amazing! thanks for the chop! do you reokon you could paint the handles and the side trims for me please? cos ive got to re paint the bumper as the preivous owner hot something and the paint had cracked so i may be able to get the handles and trims done aswell at the same time. I really like the idea of the black B post pillar as it feels like its all one window if you get me. Thanks Yes Ant

well im getting the car fully colour coded and the coilies fitted at the same time, total price is 250ish (garage im using is very good value!) so i reckon for fitting it would be about £100.

in total £260 for coilovers is very good, especially as i was going to pay 300-400 for just springs!
