Is there a easy way to tell if a car has been re-mapped or is it through a VAG tool only.

    thanks

pretty sure the vag tools wouldnt even be able to tell

the main was is either the butt dyno, or a proper rr, but bare in mind, sometimes the car has more power than stated, and not because of a map

IIRC, you can see if the ECU has been flashed.

chris - might be wrong, but dont most maps not put this counter up so that dealers dont know how many times it has been done? or was that just for the st3?

This is also the case with Revo maps, they reset the counter by one, or something. I wasn't really paying attention at that point.

The only real way to tell electronically (as far as I'm aware) is for the car to be connected to VW in Germany, which can be done by a dealer.

drive the thing! you should definatlly be able to tell is the car has been remapped.. if you cant you might want to consider getting a differnt company to map it

:)  my 140 tdi feels fairly nippy, but im pretty sure it hasnt been mapped as the way it revs etc still feels link normal tdi character

.....im basing this on my mapped alfa (ex) - the way engine revved etc felt totally different.....apart from it being faster obviously  :D

........btw - if i wanted a warm remap for mine, what is recommended?

    cheers

    dan
