Hi, I have a DTC on my Wife's VRS which is; 18009 Relay for supply voltage terminal 30 (J317) implausible signal P1601-35-00. THe 18009 code isn't on Wiki Ross-tech so I E.Mailled them and they advised "J317 is really J322 on this car and is located in socket 15" but they think it isn't that serious. I have no symptoms but would prefer to get rid of the code before any appear. I dropped the panel under the dash but nothing has J317/322 on it so I am a bit confused, also working from a Haynes manual I find this usually happens anyway, it has no pictures of the relay panel and it's all meant to be in the wiring diagrams but I am not that good at reading these. Can anyone advise?

    Thanks

    Wallace.

Anyone any ideas about this, can't make head nor tale of the wiring diagrams (not my strong point) and can't seem to get anyone on Briskoda to answer, think they've taken their ball and gone home :(

I wouldnt think that relay is faulty!!!! If your terminal 30 is faulty then half the stuff in your car wouldnt work!! did you try erasing the fault and see if it re-appears!? (Maybe thats a stupid question!!! Tongue Tied)

I cant remember off hand what the fusebox/ relay plate looks like on the fabia/polo/ibiza on the wiring diagram there should be a small black box with a number (1,2,3,4 etc) to the side of the actual relay (J317, J312 etc) this is the designation of that relay in the relay plate!!!

Hi,Thanks for the replies, this feels much more like 'home', I have a Hynes manual but can't make head nor tale of the wiring diagrams, I also have Vag-com but I am not that good with it. As far as the car goes, I haven't had any symptoms in 4 weeks of ownership but I have cancelled the code a couple of times and it comes back very quickly so there is some kind of ongoing problem, could it be a bad earth? i checked the  cables on top of the battery and fuses but all seem fine, I don't see any relays in the engine compartment area (unless they don't look like the usual relays?) and I did check the relay panle under the dash but nothing corresponds to J317/322. I did wonder about the 109 relay problem as I had this on my Mk3 Golf a few years ago but I wasn't sure if this was the same relay and I hadn't heard of the same problem in a Fabia. Would appreciate anything you guys can find out/suggest, before it gets worse and I do get 'symptoms'.

    Cheers,

    Wallace.

Anyone any ideas? or maybe to take a step back, what is "Terminal 30"? Is it the area on top of the battery where the fuses are? If so where would the corresponding relay be? Any ideas would be welcome.

    Cheers.

Terminal 30 is your battery! The J317 is a control unit also known as a boardnetz or central electrics unit!! Just recheck your battery terminals and make sure your earth points are clean!

     Thanks for that,

Pobmk4; I was coming round to asking that actually as I had earth problems with another Fabia, will give tham and the battery terminals a clean and see if that does the trick.

Fenwick458, Not sure about the 109 relay thing, it obviously isn't numbered 109 like a golf, would you have any idea what the number would be? Also as you will see above wondering if it's an earth problem adn as I said I have no symptoms. When this went on my old Golf it would run fine for weeks right enough but then it would just cut out without warning.Once changed it never did it again and I had it for about another 3 years.

    Cheers
