Well fellas as promised I managed to install the above on Sunday afternoon with the help of another forum member Mk4Richie. The kit I installed was the VISION model which comes with the unit that displays the distance from objects aswell as the audible tone, for the speaker only version the install is exactly the same.
Tools required are
VW Star Type ScrewDrivers or Screw Heads - 3 different sizes
13mm + 10mm Socket
Inline Splices
Multimeter
Underbody Sealant Paint + Paintbrush

Initial reports from the wife are very very favourable - she is chuffed to bits tbh.
Here goes -
1. We first jacked up the rear of the car and placed it on axle stands - to allow both rear wheels to be removed.
2. Once the rear wheels were off we could access the rear bumper retaining screws. There are four per side.

3. Now remove all the boot ancills - such as the carpet, parcel shelf, spare tyre and so on.

4. Now remove the long plastic panel which covers the boot catch - it just pulls off, use even pressure and all will be good. Doesnt Richie make a great model!!

5. Now pull back the carpet behind the light clusters which will expose two plastic bolts - these hold the light clusters on. Also on the drives side the rubber wiring grommet is visible with the carpet pulled back. More about this later.
6. Remove the two plastic bolts and slide the rear lights off exposing two more bumper retaining screws per side.

7. Under the car now on the rear valence there are 4 more retaining screws to remove. Take these off and remove the two screws per side as indicated above. The bumper can now be slid off.
** Carefull though as the numberplate lighting loom needs to be disconnected - two man job **
8. Scarily enough the rear of your pride and joy should look something like this.

9. I then took some water and a scotchbright and scrubbed the inside of the bumper where the sensor strip was going to be installed so I could get a good key for the adhesive.

10. While this was drying we stripped back some more trim removing the upper rear headlining strip, and the parcel shelf support (passenger side), we loosened the wiring grommet and exposed the reversing light bulb housing and popped open the trim around it.

11. With the parcel shelf support removed the Earth Point was exposed and we used a ring connector to earth the Parking Dynamics wiring.(yellow connector)

12. We then carefully fed the red wire (PD Loom) up through the hatch gromet and into the boot lid where the reversing bulb was housed. Made easier by tying the wire to a section of wire coat hanger to get through the gromet!!
13. Using a multimeter we selected the 12v wire (white) to the bulb and took a feed off that for the red wire. We then carefully tie wrapped the red wire to the OE wiring and clipped the trim back into place.
14. The supplied ECU now had the power it needed to operate. The second section of the install concerns the sensor and small display unit. The ECU found a neat location between two looms but can go anywhere you like.

15 The wire which connects to the sensor needs to run from the passenger side to drivers side and down through the wiring gromet where the number plate lights are plugged in. See pic.

16. With the sensor wire ready for connection the actual sensor needs to be applied to the bumper itself. We did this once and then attached the bumper testing its sensitivity. After a few tries we decided to install two sensors as one wasnt enough imho.

17. After checking the sensitivity we removed the bumper and applied a generious coat of underbody sealant to the sensor strip to prevent it from corroding.

18. With the sealant drying we tried to think of somewhere to install the Visual Display unit - I didnt want to install it on the dash so we decided to feed the wiring into the headlining and attach it to the rear courtesy light. Looks great to me as I naturally look rearwards when reversing.

19. With the sealant over the sensor dry we carefully attached it and pushed it into place for a final test.

After much joy in the system working - very well I may add, we in true Haynes fashion put the car back together.
After using the PD1 Vision system for a whole day my wife is very happy with it - no problems when wet or raining and the quality of the kit was very high. All in all I would recommend this kit to others and think its a very neat and stealthy way of having reversing sensors fitted.
We increased the sensitivity by installing a second sensor strip above the first which did noticably extend the detection range. The display unit is very easy to interpret and the audible tone beeps faster as you approach the object.
