All looks good to me,but you'll also need a monoblock amp to run the sub.

    Chris.

You'd be better of getting two amps. A monoblock for the sub, and a seperate stereo amp for the speakers. That way your sub will get the cleanest of power (class D), and it wont stress out the amp, unless you run your whole system of a single 5 channel amp which IMO is a bad idea.

Yes it would, a monoblock is an amp designed for 1 channel. So your sub. The other amp is 2 channel (i think cant see it on advert) which will run 2 sets of speakers!  You also can get 6 channel amps etc

No it won't, it'll run one set of speakers (i.e. two speakers). For two sets of speakers you would need a 4 channel such as the one he's chosen.

Mate you're only in southend which is 40-45 mins away max, there are plenty of guys in London who would be able to do this for you if you can't make it all the way to Crawley. DJUPLIFT comes to mind, give him a shout. You'll need a wiring kit though (unless one of the products you've chosen comes bundled with one?) I'd say 4 gauge would be fine.

Cheers for your info mate, How long would it take to wire it all up would you think?

Mate sorry to be dumb but would you be able to give me a list of what wire to buy, I know I've gotta buy the speaker adapters so my new speakers will fit in the doors & iso cable, will I be able to replace the oem tweeters in the front & back with my new ones as they seem to be in a hard to reach area??

    Thanks mate Chris

You said 2 sets in your original post which is 4 speakers.

Can't seem to find a kit with everything you'll need right now but basically you'll need

-a run of 4AWG power cable with an ANL inline fuse (6 metres should do it)

-two 4AWG ground wires (one for each amp)

-a distribution block which will take your 4AWG power wire from the engine bay and allow you to split it to two 8AWG power wires (one for each amp)

-couple of short runs of 8AWG power wire for the above

-remote cable which you'll daisy chain from one amp to another to turn them both on (again about 5 metres)

    -couple of decent RCA cables

-however much speaker wire you think you'll need

I'd think it wouldn't take someone who knew what they were doing more than 3 hours to do it tidily and safely.

Cheers Chris. The cost is mounting rite up, I'm thinking of doing away with the sub for now and just buying the speaker and amping them up. What do you think, if I went that route should I buy 6.5 mids for the rear doors?? Cheers mate Chris

no point the rears are good enough, but i would save your money and get the sub rather than spending it on a set of rears.

I'd love to be able to help mate but I'm working silly hours lately - I can just about get weekends to myself these days thanks to the bloody Blackberry. I think Chris or DJUPLIFT would be your best bet. Both of them know more than me anyway.

No no no, it won't. The 4 channel will run your SPEAKERS ONLY (you will be amping your OEM rears as well). The amp you posted above (the monoblock) will run JUST YOUR SUB. So you will have two amps in your install. Comprende?

ok mate no worries Big Smile oh I was under the impression if I only amp up the front I'll have the other to channels to power the sub????  I'm keeping the rears oem now mate I think.

yeah you can do but a 4 channel amp isn't designed for a sub. Better to get a class D mono amp for the sub.

That is correct and also the point of what I was saying,as long as it's a single 4 Ohm voice coil sub the four channel amp will drive it and the front components no problem.
But..........I'm not saying you wouldn't get better sound with a dedicated monoblock amp for the sub, unless you''re a real basshead you'd be better off spending more of your budget on a better four channel amp (more powerful),the difference betwen the two really is minimal. The install is a lot neater as there's only one each of power and earth cable and no distribution blocks.
Then in the future if you decide you need more volume from the speakers put some better rears in,amp them as well from the existing four chaneller and then buy a monoblock for the sub,at this time it's money you really don't need to spend.

I'm biased, but the Vibe below is stupidly good for that price but also look at the bigger JBL amps.

Yes they are, that's why the speaker terminals are marked "Bridged" and they have low pass crossovers and bass boost built into all but the very cheapest two or four channel amps.

If you ever get the chance check out the now legendary Phillips DAP600 4 X 55 watts RMS amps from the early 90s,listen and then tell me four channel amps don't do subs very wellMusic.

That'll do fine if you want to control the Starship Enterprise (only joking),three preouts for if you ever need them and everything else YOU want.

Don't over complicate the rest of the system as some people do for no apparant reason and you'll be fine.

Cheers Chris this is my head unit http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-ixaw404r-p-7397.html I cant wait to get it

That'll do fine if you want to control the Starship Enterprise (only joking),three preouts for if you ever need them and everything else YOU want.

Don't over complicate the rest of the system as some people do for no apparant reason and you'll be fine.

    Chris.

Chris once I have got all my bits together would you be able to help me fit it?? ( I'll supply the tea lol )

I don't think your too far away from me mate, let me know Chris obviously I'll pay you to do it

    Cheers Chris
