    Hi,

I have had two instances where the amarm on my Jetta went off. And this thing happens its embarrasing. Let me descibe the  2 instances.

First: I had locked my 2 sons in the car with the music player on and went to a shop. The alarm went off when there were some children playing outside the car and were peeping inside, or maybe even touched the side view mirrors.

Second: I had left my wife and children in the car mwth the music system and A/C on. Doors locked. After a while the alarm went off. The bad thing was I was inside the shop and I could not even hear it. It was on for like a min or two. All the ppl were curious to find out whats happening.

Can somebody pleae explain to me, why or when does the alarm turn on. Is there a way to leave wife or children in a locked car and go to a shop?

    Hi

When you lock the car the alarm is set and the interior motion sensor are activated and will sense any movement inside the car.

Should you wish to lock your wife and children in the car, then you will need to deactivate the interior monitoring. You can do this by the switch on the B-pillar on the driver side near to base of seat belt.

Thanks, that sounds simple. I will try to find the interior monitoring system later today.

From a safety point of view:

You should also consider that when you lock your family in the car that they won't be able to open the doors from the inside as the doors will deadlock so in case of an emergency they won't be able to get out of the car.

If you get them to lock the car using the anti-hijack button on the drivers door then they can still get out and your alarm won't go off.

In other words, if the car is locked from the inside, drivers door. The alarm wont go off.

Strange that a premium car lke Jetta, does not have manual looks for the other doors. Can only be controlled from te driver's door.

Well to be fair although its a very nice car, its not really considered to be premium, just a Golf with a boot.

In India for the price we pay, its a luxury. FYI it costs around 22,000 GBP here. For this price we can get 2 midsize cars.
