I've finally ordered some coilovers. I went for the Weitec Hicon GT's. Now I think i've decided what wheels I want - Brock B2's. Can't afford them until next month but just been looking at the sizes they come in and I can see you can get 8.5 x 18 and 10 x 18. First of all, is 10" going to be too wide as in illegal? As I was thinking 10" on the rear and 8.5" on the fronts. I guess that could mess up the handling also..?

If this is a bad idea i'll probably go for 8.5" all round. I don't think i'll need spacers with Brock's will I as they're already wide enough? Smile

I think I read that you don't need adapters with these either, but can someone confirm please.

Cheers for any advice with this!

I was thinking about these wheels a while back and the 10" width put me off a little, another option are a set of RH cups they look alsomst identical but come in 9.5" width, not a lot but and extra half inch can make all the difference Big Smile Have a word with Bazmcc, he has B1s in 10" and they are very wide but fit with the right offset.

Nice one, cheers. Just seen some pics of the RH Cups. Do you know any suppliers? Just done a quick search on google but couldn't find any place that sells them.

Cheers I just spoke to someone at one of those suppliers and he said that 9.5" is way too wide for a golf so i said what about 8.5" and he said 'i'd go for 8"' but they don't do the RH cups in 8" from what i can see.

Now i'm really confused! I don't want illegal wheels on my car but i  do like the wide look and want it to have a decent stance... i guess it depends on the offset.

There is a few people on the forum with 10" wheels on the rear. Its do-able and the stance is spot on, I say go for it!

Dentreform has 10J Porsche wheels on his and they look Cool

Here's my B2's on my Bora.  They are 8x17 up front and 8.5x17 at the rear with et13.  I know you are after 18's, but hopefully will give you an idea of the poke of the 8.5 rim with 13 offset.  Personally, would like to put the 8.5's on the front and get 10's for the rear, but can't afford 2 new wheels at the moment Sad

There's a few pic in my gallery on a Golf, same wheels as above, eg ET13 rear. I think 10" wide on a standard offset would slightly petrude the arch

Lol, no they are all still the same just been refurb'd.  Always thought the fronts were 8 wide as they seem narrower.  Do you remember the offset of the fronts?  I thought they were et30 but I could be wrong.

I'll probably go for the 8.5's then.. they look wide enough! Yes

Do you know how much your Bora has been lowered by?

If you go for the 8.5's the 13 offset will give you a nice bit of poke like mine, the 35 offset will be like my fronts which sit just in from the wing.

Mine has been lowered by 45mm, but if there are 2 in the back it used to rub big time as the car sat just on top of the tyre, but I went for a smaller tyre to stretch it a bit which seems to have solved the rubbing problems.  I ran 225/45/17's but changed for 215/45/17's which look a lot better too.  Going to get my arches rolled soon to hopefully get it lower.
