I feel so down right now.

It was my first car, my drive was slightly blocked so had to get out at an angle.

When I came back, I thought I could make it it, gave it some and went into my neighbours wall.

The whole fronts gone in, radiators gone, and it's leaking coolant.

I scraped together to pay for the car and insurance and now I'm just embarresed and ashamed more than anything. Everyone keeps telling me it happens and we all make mistakes, but I dunno. Just feel like crap.

Oooh, Er, it's a bit Windy!

    Cheers mate, appreciate it.

I was kinda on the up, getting used to the car, confident driving it and now it's just gone through the floor.

Just thinking about the damage this is gonna cause me financially is just unbearable.

Gonna try and drop to my friends garage monday morning and see what he says.

I might have to do a big parts hunt now cause I dont think I can afford genuine parts.

Oooh, Er, it's a bit Windy!

When I had my 4mo, I picked some spare parts up from a guy who'd smashed the front end of his car.

Due to the fact he was a teenager, and didn't want to claim on insurance, his dad had bought a complete golf that had been written off due to the interior being nicked.

They were swapping the front ends over, then selling the parts left over from the car. Apparently, they told me they were even making a profit overall, due to the value of the parts left over!

Worth a thought, if you've got the space to park up a donor car! Yes

Looking for a nice R32 or Anni. Get in touch!

    ....gave it some.....

You gave it some entering your drive? meaning you sped up? How wide's your drive?

Lucky you never hurt yourself (or someone else) too. Do feel for you, you've learned the hard way though unfortunately. You'll get it sorted.

Agree with some of the comments here about givving it some going up your drive.

I guess the slam panel will be gone too.

    Yep, slam panels gone.

By giving it some, my drives pretty steep. I stalled in the morning going up it in second. This time I figured I would need to go a bit faster going up, except the angle turn was all wrong.

I am thankful no one was hurt and today I was meant to go on the motorway myself so something even worse could have happened.

I'm trying to see the positives in this, just hope I can get it repaired and fixed.

First gear?  More torque in lower gears so its easy to get moving on large banks.

Really sorry to hear that, Mate.  It's just a case of learning from the mistake.  (I reversed into a lamp post pretty quickly after I'd passed my test - it only cracked a tail light, but was a big wake-up call with the cost of parts).

You should be able to get the bits you need cheaply from breakers & E-Bay.  Smile

Maybe someone could help by picking these up and posting your way for a few £?

Bro it happens. Have a ganders.

This was within the first month, due to me not being used to extremely wet conditions, a deer, and a cross road.

But went down to the scrappy, picke dup parts, got them sprayed and fitted, not its good as new.

Hope you get it fixed quickly and easily. I nearly died without my car.

    UPDATE:

This happened Saturday night, my dad had a valuation saturday for £1250!!!Surprise

Luckily he has a friend who does accident repair for insurers at his local garage.

He stated roughly £300 for parts and £250 for labour, I couldn't believe that but infact he was right.

£256 + VAT and it came to just under £300.

Needed, new bumber, brackets, radiator, second radiator (cant remeber the exact name for it) and panel.

He has a young italian apprentice who did top notch panel beating on the bonnet and respray.

He also changed the bushed on the front as he said he wasn't happy with them (I had previous notes on services they looked worn), he didnt charge labour for 'em.

Only issues were, the driver side headlight which was infact OK except the brackets were broken to the panel, he fixed by plastic bonding. I mean there's nothing wrong, it will just need changing in the future when I can afford it.

The A/C unit was broken which he repaired but will need gassing up.

The bonnet has paint chipped underneath where he has panel beat it, which will start to rust if not treated.

And it's filthy, needs a proper clean.

He stated, had I not been been my dads seed (in those words), I would be looking at £1.5k and he would have looked to replace (and charge) for the whole lot, e.g. headlight, bonnet etc.

I'll up pics hopefully after a bit of a clean.

I'm just glad to get it back and done for the price he charged, he took it (leaking coolant and all sorts) on the tuesday evening, had it finished inc. painting thursday and picked up friday.

    I'm just so relieved.

Oooh, Er, it's a bit Windy!

i cant belive he would charge 1.5k to pannel beat a bonnet and respray when you coukd have got a bonnet for £50 from scrappy and respray that?

i know id be gutted if some one beat my bonnet then resprayed it instead of geting one from a scrappy then charge me top wak for it

at the price you got i think its spot on

I built it and ill destroy it

Cheers, he's actually a decent guy.

What he meant is, he does 99% of work thorugh insurers, so will charge top whack.

I was actually surprised when I came back Friday and the bonnet was the way it was, the lip of the bonnet was near vertical after the accident!

Nice to hear it has worked out quite cheap for you.

I know how it feels to be in that state of limbo when youre waiting to see how much its going to cost you.

It does happen to all of us, and if anyone reading this hasnt done somthing a little silly like this very well done as its hard not to.

Back in April I managed to back my 4mo into some guys black Skoda Octavia, the carpark had very poor lighting and admittedly I was in a bit of a rush to get home..2.2k that cost to sort out. And I only backed into him at about 4 mph. Insurers went to town I think.

Just be a little more careful when coming home in future eh? Smile

4mo now gone, hello Corrado G60!

Brilliant it worked out for you mate. Not quite as dramatic but I dented my wheel arch quite badly yesterday and I feel terrible so I can only imagine what you felt like.

Anyways, care to upload any pictures to show the bloke's handywork?
