     my golf is going for re-test this morning. failed on a tyre and emissions.

    What was wrong with it to fail the emissions?

    1.4 emission failures are quite common, best thing to do is try and get it really hot before the test so that the cat is more effective.

    yep, agree, my mot tester always says give it a good thrash on the way

     well i gave it a good thrashing before it went but failed yet again, so ive ordered new downpipe with cat and lambda sensor, hoping that sorts the job out.Angry
