    The trip of win.....

We're looking to organise a mini 'ring weekend - this will be in a similar spirit to previous trips that have been organised by the likes of Gary Cundliffe, Tabs, Blue V5 (rich) and Foxy (the legend!). All are welcome although I would have to say that the trip is being organised for members of this forum only, to help make it more centralised and focused towards our requirements.

Why May? It tends to be quiet, so you have a better chance of getting more, clear, laps in. Although the weather can be a little unpredictable at that time of year, it does tend to be dry and sunny which makes for perfect driving conditions. I've been twice at that time of year and both occasions have seen maybe a day or rain with the rest being sunny on tourist driving days.

    Ring opening times and dates:
    Friday 21st        - Public track day 14.15 - 19.30
    Saturday 22nd  - Public track day 08:00 - 19.30
    Sunday 23rd     - Public track day 08.00 - 19.30
    Monday 24th     - Public track day 08:00 - 19.30

GP Track opening times and dates:

GP circuit is open Monday evening, 18:00 - 20:00. Prices to follow.

Route wise, this will depend on where you are location wise. Those down South may want to look at taking the Channel Tunnel or Ferry routes. Those in the North can take the overnight ferry from Hull to Rotterdam. Please note - the dates above are just a rough guide so feel free to adjust your dates to suit your traveling plans etc.

This will be organised as a get yourself there sort of trip, with you handling your own booking for the Ferry and Hotel. Details of each will be posted so you can make sure you're on the correct crossing etc.

Hull Route - Departing Thursday 20th (arriving 21st) and leaving Tuesday 24nd (getting back on the 25th):
    Tabs and Tracy
    The Beddies
    Duvet
    Sticky and Kerry
    Wilko
    Danza
    Paul
    Alan
    JJ & Ania

Daaaan Saaf route - Leaving blighty Friday 21st and coming back Tuesday 24th:
    Chungster
    CkB
    Moorhead

    Others over there
    Gary Cundliffe

Ha, nice1 JJ. I'm not exactly a novice at the ring, (pretty sure I met you last year) I managed to get 30 laps in last year and haven't missed a uk-mkivs trip yet but I'm always up for a pax lap or two, always great to pick up tips. I have actually been out in the ring taxi so after your comment I'll let you know if you give sabine a run for her money or not

Shhh Lee, it is the bar that we dare not speak its name Whistle We'll hit it up before throwing an all nighter with the Dutch hotsteppers at Nurodisney.

i was originaly going in may but had to put it back till september now due to other ppl i was going with having issues.

not bad for wanting to go may LAST year.. word of advice, NEVER put off your trip so friends can come with you, you'll end up regretting it as you still go solo.

    Costs:

Obviously avoiding seasonal changes is best, school holidays will increase prices.

From Dover to Calais or Dunkerque about £50 return on the ferry. You're at the mercy of the French though if the ports kick off.

    £100+ return on the train.

From Hull to Rotterdam £250 return on your own - but, sharing makes it cheaper. We've got 4 cars and a 4 berth cabin working out just over £100 return each. Ignore the P&O website, ring them and discuss your needs and they'll tell you the cheapest way to do it.

Depending on where you live, the Hull ferry can sound expensive, but personally saving 4-5 hours on your journey and a tank of fuel makes it well worth while.

Accomodation about 50Euros a night for a room max, again sharing reduces this. You can even camp if you like.

Then fuel, laps, food, beer and entertainment. The last 3 can be as cheap or expensive as you like and is on par with Britain in terms of prices.

It honestly doesn't have to cost much at all - you can do a sub £500 easily.

    Planning.

Booking a ferry/train/hotel is no different than anywhere else. All I'd advise is ytou check the ring calendar to ensure there's actually some TF days (touristen fahten = public usage) when you intend to go. Calendar is here

It's an overnighter, so sets off at 9pm and moors up until you drop off first thing the next day. Starts the day nice and refreshed and shaves about 130km off the journey on the other side too.

    Approximate KMs to Adenau.
    350km from Rotterdam
    480km from Calais

Anthony, the overnight ferry is ace, drinking, dancing, casino, all you can eat buffet etc. The nurnurgring last year had it's new phase opened and as part of it there is a 5 tier nightclub, shuts about 6-7am, music starts off with pop, dance, funk, trance and finishes off with ultra hard house. Perfect for your stag night!. Oh did I mention the dancing girls..... Anyway chungster, I have heard all about the legend that is your new toy!, any pics? really want to see this in the flesh :) it's about the only car I'd swap mine for (unless someone offered me a straight swap for a gtr, gt3 rs, dbs9 or rs4/6)
