I sealed the deal yesterday, after laying down a deposit last weekend, I made the 300 mile trip back up to Halifax, by train, to pick up my new shiny MK5 R32!

  • 85k miles
  • 2007
  • sunroof
  • DSG
  • Recaro buckets
  • multi function wheel
  • satnav (default sound system is fantastic! shame mine doesn't have bluetooth/USB... yet)

Basically all the optional extras i was looking for. HPI clear and everything. The only thing that put me off at all, was a higher mileage than i was hoping for, but other than that, it's my dream car [In-love]

But enough of the gabble, here's some pictures:

Our awkward 'first date' set me back £85 it was literally on fumes when i left the dealership, thankfully, there was a station near by.

372ca6b1-cbb2-4c70-b4da-1c92b80ac835_zps

Then i drove to Oldham to meet my sister, and pick up a few bits to bring home

20130316_170741_zpsd869c0dc.jpg

Then that beautiful V6 called me back for a second date before i even made it home [:DD]

20130316_215500_zps1d02b2db.jpg

And i finally made it home about 11:00PM after catching a train at 10:45AM to London, it was a very long day, but a very memorable one.

IMG-20130316-WA0042_zpsb812d1d2.jpg

I had a spout of excitement as i glanced down at the dash when she was at 84,999 miles, and i watched her hit 85K, it felt like a milestone had been reached, and we had a little 'moment' [In-love]

So today i set about making her 'mine', i pulled up the boot carpet,
to
discover years of leaves, twigs, golf tees, receipts, and most of all,
dog hair [+o(] So i cleaned her out, pulled all the foam inserts out,
and gave it a damn good going over (it was 'valeted' by the garage, but
they were not very thorough, it seems). After all the dog hair was
hoovered out, i put the inserts back, and began finding homes for the
'essentials' i had in my V5, tow rope, jump leads, first aid kit etc.

Tanks
to the shallow floor pan, i couldn't find room for the foot pump i
usually carry, which is a shame, as i like having one with me, just in
case. But regardless, i checked the pressures, and reset the tyre
pressure monitor. (ooh get me)

Then set about solving a bulb fault
(the light was on) which turned out to be numberplate lights, so i
swapped them over to the LED units from my V5.

Another light related fault, is the O/S repeater LED unit is waft, so i'll be replacing that soon.

And
finally, spent the rest of the day cleaning the interior where the
garage had missed, and played with all the toys. As is tradition with
any new car. [:D]

I've not at all been drooling over this on Facebook. Not jealous at all about the recaro seats or the blue needles on the dash or anything you know?

Hopefully will be able to catch up with you soon and see it in the flesh!

Looks like a good weekend has been had Yes

Looking forward to seeing/hearing it at some point Smile

It was a good weekend indeed, and absolutely [Y]

Very nice, you'll be on first name terms with the guys in the petrol stations in next to no timeChuckle,my one is IshmaelWink.

It's already about to beep at me again. i did get 270 miles to my first tank, which i don't think was that bad [au]

Awesome Adrian, congrats, look forward to a close up in the kent meets

Cheers Royce, She's quite the show pony, but probably quite underwhelming compared to your turbo monster [:)]

Ooh that's gorgeous! In Love how's the dsg??

Thank you Dan, the DSG is nothing short of fantastic. It takes all the effort out of driving, but leaves in all the fun. The changes are almost impossible to notice, and it sounds great when giving it the beans [8]

Im jealous mate. Can i ask how much it cost you?

Don't be. I'm now skint. [:D]

I had a flick through the big stack of paperwork that came with the car, and found the original sale receipt; £31,500

It was up for sale at £11,995. and i obviously did a bit of haggling [mo]

Probably Could find one cheaper privately, but i wanted exactly this specification, and some consumer rights and a 3 month warranty.

I've not at all been drooling over this
on Facebook. Not jealous at all about the recaro seats or the blue
needles on the dash or anything you know?

Hopefully will be able to catch up with you soon and see it in the flesh!

You can get a good look on your way past the fuel station, just to make sure [:DD]

And definitely over due a catch up, sir. [Y]

very nice indeed and a good find with the sun roof

Thank you [:)] It's one of those things i'll get to use 2 days of the year, but it's nice to have the option [:D]

Looks great mate!

Thanks Stu [B]

Having recently bought a dud car I have to agree with you that it's worth paying a little extra from a garage to have some rights!

Having recently bought a dud car I have to agree with you that it's worth paying a little extra from a garage to have some rights!

Exactly! after my last car, i decided i didn't want the hassle! And even this car isn't without its problems, but what car is...

Very nice mate !

Look forward to hearing it if I ever manage to make one of the M20 meets ! :)

We're not meeting regularly at them moment, due to the weather being so awful. How about making your way to prept one week? look forward to meeting you [B]

Thank you [:D]

my V5 was about 300miles per tank, too. If driven carefully/on cruise control, i reckon she's good for 300.

Very nice! Yes My ideal car! (although I'd be after a steel grey one Cool)

You got any mod plans or just enjoy the sound for a while?

Thanks bud. Yeah, steel grey is a fantastic colour, as is white, i would have had either, but this one turned up, in the right spec, and i just had to have her. The colour is very 'me' and ties in with the V5, and i'm okay with that.

Mod wise, all i've done so far is LED numberplate lights. As for plans, i can't think of anything i want to change. MAYBE a Miltek, but i don't want to make it very loud. I love the blend of performance and practicality this car offers, and down want to do any mods to ruin that (no coil overs on this one, i think).

I guess it's a love or hate thing. Have you actually driven a DSG car before? i was sceptical whether i would get on with it, at first...

I still go for the clutch pedal every now and then [:DD]

Nope, but there is a big empty space in the boot inserts. That's probably what's missing... [*-)]

I'll look into tampering with her flaps, and see if i like it or not... [:DD]

I always thought the interior let the MK5 down. How wrong i was. [In-love]

Still can't get over how much room there is in the back. I'm 6'4 and with my seat in my normal driving position, i can comfortably get in the back! no chance of doing that in the MK4.

So there you have it. Sorry for the slightly dodge pictures, but its very dark, and 1.5 second exposures feel like a lifetime without a tripod [:DD]

Thanks guys :)

They are nice and comfy, and the heated elements get  hotter so much quicker than the mk4 recaros. It took a lot of hunting to find one with these seats, as i discovered, they were a £2,500 optional extra [:o
