Hello all,

So after owning my Mk1 for two weeks and getting familiar with it all i decided to make a project thread (well more of a thread to show it off!)

So yes, i had been looking for a mk1 for almost a year and after a long wait was contacted by Pete and Daz (NASTYGRIFF) about a 1.3 3dr tin top they had just brought. Some of you may know them on here as they buy alot of mk1's and basically restore them and sell them on. This sounded like a great idea, so i decided to take the plunge and make the 170 mile journey to view the car. After viewing the car in its rawest form i decided to put a deposit down!

6870923002_2dfdfceaa9_b.jpg

So now i had to wait for them to respray the car, give it a service and get it MOT'd! The next four weeks went incredibly slow for me as i couldn't wait to get my hands on the car, especially after being sent teaser pictures of the car!

Just after the respray.

64446c888f8b11e1a9f71231382044a1_7.jpg

Waiting for me to come and collect!

As soon as i got in the car to drive home i fell in love! Daz and Pete did a really good job on the car an would highly recommend them, really helpful with everything and the car looked great!

So enough storys and more pictures! I gave it a clean when i got home, and had a little play around with the car with the bumpers off!

back together!

After owning the car for a week i decided it was time to get rid of the manky old seats which were in there and replace them with some GTI grey stripe seats. I purchased these form joe90k, with a set of doorcards and parcel shelf, before i picked up the golf itself, so during the four weeks wait i decided to clean them up a bit!

So now it was time to swap the seats over, which is such an easy job!

Now thats where im up to this the car so far! my plans are to ort out the stereo and speakers (nothing chavy!) get some ats classics on it and then see where it goes from there! but so far loving the car and ownership (my first car owned in my name too  grin.png )

so i shall leave you all with my favourite shot of the car for now

Haha it will get longer and longer when i get going but overall i just want to tidy her up and have her looking smart, particularly the engine bay, and i need to sort the interior out (seat foam is dying and the dash is a little tatty) :) im not too mechanically minded so i sort of learn as i go along!

Alex - Thanks buddy

Timo - Car set me back £1950 2 years ago. Could probably find one cheaper, but this one just seemed right at the time. Should get one buddy  :Y: I've had no trouble whatsoever with mine, so long as you look after them, as with any car, they will last.

Lost access to my flickr account, so unfortunately no high quality pictures just instagram rubbish.

Got some yellow bulb caps which i am running currently, not 100% i will keep them on but see how i feel about them for a while.

10254143_635660466509773_1897874057_n.jp

As you can see in the photo they only show up head on (they are fitted to both lights) makes driving at night interesting, being met with yellow reflective signs everywhere

Ordered a couple bits, mainly to clean up the bay a little bit, also an slr camera to take some proper pictures  B) Just hopefully i can remember my flickr password

Cheers

Toby

Thanks Guys  ;)

ProjectMick - I dont think they did, they had a ton of mk1s there though, the green one you can see in the background of the second pic was a beast   I have since tried to contact them though to thank them but no reply. If i had a bigger garage i would be going for a jetta next myself!

RDub30 - Thanks buddy, yes it is a 'daily', but that said i work a 10 minute walk from where i live, so it only gets driven in the evenings if need be and most weekends.

Izzy1 - thanks for the kind words i appreciate it  B)

Still; nice to see a classic is being appreciated in the way it should, by driving it and not bubble wrapping it :)
