Finally taking the plunge and going to tackle the suspension refurbishment on my old car. Inspired by many of the previous posts on here, so thanks to all who have gone before!
We all like pictures, so also got to get to grips with posting them up.
So its out with the trolley jack and time to get the party started.......slowly :-)

Edit: not having much joy with photobucket. Using an ipad, but accessing photobucket via the website, not their app. Cant seem to copy the img codes....

The best way to upload images on a lot of forums I use including this one is through Tapatalk, so quick an easy.

No point, might as well get the 150 turbo instead for virtually the same cost.

Tweaking, it needs only the injectors, map sensor, turbo, some pipes along with it to be a pd130/150. And a remap of course.

Well, the update is in two parts. Firstly, still not having much luck with posting photos. Photobucket (which I already had) doesnt really seem to like ipad. Trying to copy img codes is nigh on impossible. No matter. Will try the tapatalk route at some pint.
Anyhows......
All front and reaf suspension components off the car now. Wishbones off. Stub axles off. Just waiting on some 7mm ball bearings for the flexi brake pipe stoppers before I can drop the rear beam.
New parts ordered from the rather helpful Ross at TDC Automotive down in Somerset. Bilstien B4s and Sachs springs (stock ride being retained).
New wishbones with the TT bushes upgrade already here.
Bundle of new bolts to source tomorrow.
Found a place local to me that will do the shot blasting and powder coating of beam, stub axles/steering knuckles, splash guards etc (although last time I did a job like this, on a T25, I had the big bits galvanised, and that workes a treat too).
So far I havent had any seized fixings, which has been a real bonus. Even my brake unions on the torsion beam freed up ok. Result!
Always worth giving all these nuts, bolts and unions some oily lovin' when you are servicing other bits of your car, so in the future you stnd a good chance of dismantling without too much grief.....
Happy days :-)

Torsion beam off yesterday. Beam brackets too, although nearside one foxed me with the extra brake line bracket. Used the 7mm ball bearing trick with a brake line fitting to block off old flexi hoses......has 'mostly' worked.
Got to clean up the rear calipers in the garage today, decide if pistons need removing etc.
Lastly, went to VW main stealers to order in the new suspension nuts and bolts etc. Pricey as always but not too bad overall.
If anyone has the part number for those little plastic brake line clips that fit on the rear arms (x3 each side) could you post it up please?
The ETKA image I looked at was not too clear....
Cheers all. Sun is shining :-)

I can check when I get home.  Just PM me cause I'll forget.

This is also why I enjoy MK4s.  For the most part, they are rust-free and most things always unbolt with ease.  Every MK5 I have touched has been a pile of death and solid/stripped/rusty.

I was IN the parts dealers! That why I said the picture was poor! Neither of us could tell 100% if it showed what I needed! Lol

Let me guess you went to the VW parts counter..... I always use the Audi parts counter for some reason that guy knows exactly what I need and orders the right parts.... VW always the same headache they can't find it or aren't sure...

use this online etka

you either need the single bracket or the double bracket (15 or 17)

Great project you have going on @sailaway to block the brake fluid on any vw before you loosen anything pull the brake light fuse and wedge the brake pedal to the floor.

This closes the valves inside the master cylinder and you wont loose a drop of fluid from the hoses.

Did you consider TT hubs/control arm conversion??

Car will drive so much tighter and respond better in the corners even under normal driving.

As for parts I phone my dealer give the chassis number and ask them email me the pages I require I then open up a link giving me 24hrs access to the information I need complete with acurate prices...

Well, bit of a delay with other jobs being done at home. But, today I dealt with the front subframe, now all looking sparkly and new!
Awaiting the return of the torsion beam etc at end of this week. Also, steering knuckles being stripped on Friday.
Getting there...... :-)
