Hi everyone,

My sister in law currently has a golf mk6 and has lost her spare key and needs to get another one.  In the past with my MKIV I have been able to use Vag Tacho to read the pin code and then use this to program another key.

I have read that Vag Tacho doesn't work with the newer cars so what can I use to read the code?  I have a full edition of VCDS however you need to know the security code before programming a key with this.

Can anyone tell me what software I need to be able to do this myself?  I could go to the dealers or another source and get a key ordered however she may lose the key again in the future.

Thanks for any help and advice you can offer.

Noel

It's a dealer specific job; they know the keys.  I'm not sure if there's any other way to pull the pin now. :(

Hi Adam,

That's what I thought.  I have looked on google and not found anything that is guaranteed to work for an affordable price of a one or 2 time user, everything is far too expensive.

I hope it becomes doable when I get to owning one.
