Hi All.

In the last week I've been having an issue with my revs under load.

It only seems to happen in 3rd 4th and 5th gear, however to start with I only noticed it in 4th and 5th. Effectively when I put my foot down the revs rise and then fall back for a second before continuing upwards.

I originally thought clutch but after thinking about it if it was that the revs would rise and then bite dropping back down, what I'm getting is a steady rise and then drop before climbing again. my thoughts at this point are either throttle body, or a split pipe. I'm getting no codes to back anything up. I'm going to have a visual check of the pipes and will try cleaning the TB with some carb cleaner.

Thought I'd ask the question in case anyone has suffered the same issue or had any other ideas, I've had a search on the forum but can only really find threads around revs dropping and rising in idle which I'm not getting.

This video shows it happening, about 20 seconds is where I put my foot down and it drops if you want to skip to it. (excuse the quality!)

Thanks,

Jack.

Almost 100% clutch slip.

The slip occurs when the torque exceeds the hold capacity, so it usually happens a few seconds into a W-O-T.

Mileage? History of clutch change? Mapped?

That's what I thought, but seems more like a gear change. Do it again in highest gear up hill. It should become more apparent. Then try first gear, shouldn't do that.

I agree with what NooNoo said, it does look like clutch is slipping. My clutch started to slip about 6 months ago but not like yours, when I floored car it was skipping up revs gradually and it didn't feel like it was pulling as hard as I was used too.

Cheers NooNoo,

Just under 115k, stage 1 and on original clutch.
I'm hoping to go stage 2 before the end of the year shall I replace OEM or is it worth going uprated ready for stage 2?

I'll take it out this evening and see what happens going uphill.

Jack

You've got to consider this as a "rev increase" not a "rev drop".

The engine RPM increase is due to the engine not being loaded (like idle neutral), when the clutch recovers the engine RPM gets pinned back.
