2006 GT TDI 2.0 140, currently on 114k. still drives like new. Previously had a b6 passat tdi 170, untill oil pump gave up at 126k. really do prefer the golf though.

2008 plate, 1.9 tdi Golf Variant 19k (we had it since 2011, just gone over 3ys when we bought it it had 11k). Not used much (3 days per week or so).

My dad in Bosnia still has Golf 1.6tdi Mk 2 (1984) with 160k, and its going like clock-work :)

123k Had it sine 90k, no problems apart from general wear and tear, changed flywheel and clutch at around 114k, this was the first change from new, it rattled for over a year and was still going but thought may as well change it now. Oh yeah changed disks and pads. Nothing else in 3 years and 33k miles touch wood!

2.0 TDI on 106K. Had 12K on when I bought it in 2006. One break down due to sender pump failure. The drivers seat lumber support broke while in France. I took it to dealer who said cable had snapped and would be £400 fix. Took seat apart it f*&king had not snapped, the motor was goosed. Emailed the manufacurers of the motor who sent me one f.o.c. Only other issue was the alternator pulley which seized so the belt was slapping around. All in all not bad for nearly 7 years of motoring.BKD engine so for 7 years I have thought a police car has been near because of the siren sound and shakes like a good un at idle but wouldn't swap it.

Also got a Mk1 Golf on the drive. Got given it 10 years ago. Wife uses it for the school run and work. Done less than half the miles of the Mk5 but is 30 years old and built like a tank.

Love em both.

Mine clocked over 80k last week and I started getting a bit twitchy. I used to have a a coupla 206's and I know from experience, once 80k is hit, bits start to rattle, wear and fall off.

Looking at this thread tho, mine's gonna have loadsa life left, tbh it still feels like new. Except what feels like an ARB link or summit, I'll fix that Monday.

Just acquired a 2004 GT TDI 140 (BKD) - 148,400 miles on the clock.

Sold my Audi A6 Avant and back to the TDI club!

Used to have a Mk5 2007 1.9 TDi Match from new for 3 years before the A6, but am much preferring the 2.0 engine in the GT currently.

In for a cambelt (due @ 160,000 but there's a big hole in it's service history, so don't trust it) and a once over by my trusted mechanic next week - we'll see if he reckons the flywheel/clutch needs replacing too. I'm presuming it's stock everything apart from a newish battery. Will then consider chipping it.

You'll see me around here more often :) I intend to do some headunit, speaker upgrades and sound deadening on the doors - I look forward to doing
