181bhp, co2 is 109g/km, 0-62 is 7.5s and still gets 67.3mpg combined

http://www.worldcarf...-geneva-arrival

Seems like a perfect car..( provided it doesn't fall to bits and doesn't cost £30k )

Unfortunately, I rather suspect it will, or at least close to it, with zero extras added [:(]

Looks brilliant to me, class leading figures. Think the Leon FR has stolen its thunder a bit though as it was the first out with that engine.

Oh and it most certainly will not be £30k. Ignore the German figure as we normally pay less in the UK. Expect a figure somewhere near £25k. Spec will probably be as GT + 18in alloys and climate control.

Damian, I think it looks really cool with that GTI front air-dam & bumper plus you know that you can skim off 10 - 11% through a broker. Chuck in a few choice options and I'll wager it'll come in less than 27k. Ok, so it ain't cheap but much of the price increase since 2009/10 is down to VAT inflating from 15% to 20% and Sterling losing a ton of value against the Euro.

My only worry with the Mk7 is the level of technology that's been loaded onto the vehicle, so I was seriously looking at the new 5-year/90,000 warranty pack to protect it. I'm commuting 350/miles per week and 5 years piece of mind sounds pretty appealing.

sooo...

5dr GTD      £ 25940

19s               £ 965

Pure white    £ 200

Leather         £ 1675

Discover Pro   £ 1725

Dynaudio        £ 520

Total : £ 31025

Bit tight that the GT comes with nav as standard but the GTD and GTi dont.

Could go with the standard nav instead of the Pro but that drops 3D mapping and DVD player. Also, could drop the leather too as thats not essential but would be nice

I suppose if you are really keen to shave a few quid, you could buy the 19s elsewhere, cheaper, then sell the oem wheels that come on the car??? Penny pinching I know, but......

5yr/90000 mile warranty = £490

That's good value compared to the genuine VW extended warranty beyond year 3. Read somewhere that the comprehensive warranty cover for year 4 is 500+ on its own. I can imagine it gets exponentionally worse for year 5. Would be sweet if VW chucked in the extra long warranties like the Japanese & South Korean manufacturers but I'd probably be a 100 years old by then.

Kept checking the VW UK configurator yesterday and today. Still no change. All options and prices are the same as the last update on March 6th.

Damian, do you have an alternative URL link for the Mk7 price list update? The one you'd posted on the GTI discussion is a broken link for me (or maybe it needs a login i.d.). Cheers.

Yuck dis like the 7 alot atmo interior is very nice and looks dependant on colour..... but undernieth the components its built from :( just seem very cheap and nasty tbh dont look like vw. this is due to the interchangable chassis

oh and Tim that compound is never gunna happen think it a concept that somthing like autocar dreamed up 1 itll be better than GTI 2 itll be more expensive than GTI = not happening : ('

I reckon the 181bhp will be over 190bhp in reality - maybe 195bhp - that's good enough for me

hmm - clearly VW messed up as if I include a 5 year warranty, the price is now £31755 Surprise

Also, I understand that there will be a 1% price rise across the range from 1 May but some people have already got 5% discounts on the GTi

Not sure on leather - I like the look of it but I have no experience of how it wears over 4 or 5 years

I know what you mean but its not my money, Royce - it'd be a company car.

We're not allowed BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Jaguar etc ( no prestige marques ), no 4x4s ( or look-a-likes ), must be 4 or 5 door, no more than 2 litres and the cost to change not more than £25k

Its not as big a list as you'd think because what you choose with your heart gets curtailed by (a) management and / or (b) my wallet to fuel it

Does anyone know if you choose the DNS Pro do you lose the dab radio? Doesn't say on any of the screens or configurator. Damian the VW leather seems to wear really well but it will depend on how you look after it. Regular cleaning etc will prolong its life.

Well- quite impressed with the standard specs - with the exception of the sat-nav, I would call it generous:

Bi-xenons, 18" alloys, parking sensors, cruise control, folding mirrors, LED lights, 2-zone climate all as standard is pretty good and keep the dips in to the options section to a minimum.

I wonder how long before the Discovery Pro sat nav units start to hit ebay?

That's what I'm thinking Mark but to be honest the rns510 with dab I've got is on eBay for approx £1700 from a couple of German sellers and that's about the same price as the option book. I'm changing an R Line Tiguan for the new GTD as long as the deal if good Embarrassed
