Yes unless you want to pay top dollar to be one of the first to have one. To be honest with the wiring and aerial you'd be better just paying for it to be fitted from factory!

I am capable of installing an RNS510 (have done in my Scirocco) but its the purchase cost (and availibility) of the unit from a secondary source such as ebay that concrns me - I am begining to think that (just speccing it anyway) may be the only option and that VW UK have used its omission as a way of lowering the base price, knowing that a GTI/GTD without factory sat nav is going to appear a little odd and probably banking on most people speccing it (I know its not to everyones taste but there is a considerable degree of expectation that sat-nav will be fitted to a car at this price level)....

I'm thinking down the same lines Mark. Spec it from factory, pay more but less hassle long term.

I think it looks quite smart, cant wait to see them modified!

Very pricey though for what it is.

I'm impressed they've managed to keep it at £25k but its a shame it doesn't have Nav as standard. Makes the range looks silly given the normal GT gets it standard. As they don't have SD card Nav prep like the A3, a retrofit could be expensive.

I've just ordered a new GTD and chosen the DNS pro as an option. I've got an rns510 with dab now (for sale) and didn't want new car without it. Expensive option but worth it I think.

Managed to squeeze another £500 trade in and got three years gap insurance for nothing. Not much but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. Ringing back tomorrow to add reversing camera to order.

Asked when the first demo GTD would arrive at my local dealers - he said not until September!

Damian - sounds good! Can is ask what the undiscounted price was? in other words what percentage were you getting off - looks more than 10% - unless you specced it to £37k, lol!!

As an alternative the A3 may potentially work out cheaper with the same engine as Audi will likely offer it across all trims. This is what happened with the cylinder on demand 1.4
