Car looks realy nice mate, i was just wondering where i could get the VW Sharan GPS stubby aerial from??
#79
Posted 27 February 2008 - 07:00 AM
VW parts counter.
The stubby aerial only fits the Sat Nav base though, as the satnav base has a different sized thread to the non-satnav bases

Stunning looking car mate!! [] I can't wait to get my .:R now at the weekend.
Do all the R's have the trip computer thing?
#83
Posted 27 February 2008 - 08:44 AM
Stunning mate, utterly stunning []
2 questions... any pics of the Beetle Sport alloy door pins and secondly, which Polo is the rear wiper mechanism off?
Cheers!
Ooh also, are you suggesting that the Sharan stubby aerial will only fit on cars that were specced with SatNav as std?

All cars with SatNav have the full size digital read out, so if it's got satnav, then yes

no pics of the door pins,
Polo rear wiper is off the current shape polo, which is also same as the mark5 Golf rear wiper
The Stubby aerial is indeed from a vw Sharon SatNav setup, so that's right, you can only use the stubby aerial with a satnav base..

Ah yes... I thought I recgonised the mechanism from off my old Mk V GTI!!
No worries about the pics, are they just literally the pins from the beetle sport from a vw parts dept?
Shame about the aerial as looks absolutely superb!

yeh the door pins off a beetle V5 sport, cost about £5 for the pair!, and they are metal too - not plastic painted chrome (which the skoda vrs one's are!)

You can use the Sharan aerial on the normal base
I've done this for a mate of mine with a Polo GTI, and what you have to do is dye the new Sharan aerial to suit the threads of the normal base.
Be careful how you hold/grip the aerial as you can mark it easily
And radio reception suffers drastically....maybe not an issue with a proper sat nav base......?
#89
Posted 27 February 2008 - 02:21 PM
Cheers GTI... just seen the pins on VW SPeed []
VW R32... how do you mean dye the new aerial?
Not too fussed about reception as i only ever listen to radio 1 if not a cd

Possibly the nicest R32 I've seen, modded but not molested.
Not too sure with the AMD & extra .:R decals but each to their own, on very nice motor.
