Been quiet over the winter months, last week at 97k my gearbox decided to let go:
Time for an upgrade.
Decided to go with this
and this to accompany it:
The amount of pull has totally transformed! Will probably get it on a Dyno again soon..

Loving the black gloss wheels with silver face, they work well on black cars i think.
I fitted black gloss rs4 reps with silver polished face they work too.
Are the r32 bumpers genuine? where from how much if you dont mind me asking? Also where is the side veiw ...... do you have skirts?

No side view yet as I have no skirts..yet.
Front one is a ABS rep from ebay £120 ish iirc
Rear is genuine one £350 from classifieds.
The nuvolari ones are now my winter alloys, still on the prowl for some summer ones, was thinking RS4 reps myself.

That front looks fine, did you have any problems with fitting or quality? I really want the r line or r32 front but prices are crazy for genuine new.
My wheels would look good on your car, got them from wheelbase oldham check out their website you can get them in all silver, all gunmetal grey, matt black with polished silver face or gloss black with polished silver face.

Yea been looking on wheelbase few weeks ago.
Strangely enough, the front fits better than the genuine rear one!
The only problem I had with the relica one is the part that goes around the light had snapped and had to be plastic welded but the company I bought it from paid for it to be repaired instead of shipping another.

Whats the plans for the future on your motor? I guess your keeping it for a while now the bumpers are on.

Will be next month now, the gearbox took a chunk out of the wallet!
The seller was http://myworld.ebay....xklusive-design but looks like theyre no longer selling them.
As for the future, not too sure yet. Theres a few things I want, air ride, bigger turbo injectors etc but not sure weather to save that for a future motor.

Cheers for the link even though they dont have any items lol, i will look for some more abs reps.
Hmmmm air ride ..... looks very cool i think but not something i would fit, its too big a compromise on handling i think.
Im the same on the bigger turbo issue .... cant decide if i should do it or shouldnt [*-)]

Trouble is I would like to go a little lower, but I cant as the car already scrapes going into my drive when I have a full tank or few people in the back [N]
Running 135ish at a guess, the last run on the dyno was 133bhp but every run the car kept getting more and more so who knows!
Ideally want something 4wheel drive next to make proper use of the power [:)]

Durrrrrrr ... ive been reading too many posts, just realised ive allready seen your rr graph lol []
Do you know what scrapes on the floor? maybe you can adjust something to suit so you can go lower.
I fitted a koni str t kit, not adjustable for ride height and its dog chit !!!! its supposed to lower 40 mm all round but mine looks good at the front and like a moon buggy at the back. Coilovers for me soon!
Say bye bye to your mpg if you go for a 4 x 4 ...... let me know if your selling the bumpers if you change car anytime soon.

Slight update []
These are HIDs in reflectors! Notice how bad they are!!
with projectors:
Note: the above pic with HID's in reflector are H7 bulbs not H7R that I was actually using before the projectors, but they were not that much better in all honesty!
Also finally picked up a 3 spoke leather wheel for £30 inc airbag today!

Sorry to hear that, you were getting on quite nicely with it. Lot of damage?
Will you be able to sell the mods i.e ecu, wheels, lights etc?
#52
Posted 14 December 2011 - 03:59 AM
Not sure yet still waiting on insurance. They will probably write it off. Quite alot of damage:
Front passenger side hub snapped wishbone crushed drive haft ripped out of gearbox, wing bent back so door does not open and probably a fair bit of damage to top mount and coilovers
Rear driver side: r32 bumper destroyed, lights destroyed and panels pushed on a good few inches.
Also think the passenger rear wheel was bent in a little bit.
If they offer a half decent amount il just take it and tell them to keep the car.

Yea all mods were declared so no issue that side of things. I hope i get a decent offer though considering the mods and its supposed to be a like for like mods policy!

Wow unlucky mate thats bad news.
At least try and make the best out of what can happen now!
A couple of things .....
If your insurance is a like for like mods policy that pays out true value of mods declared then this could mean a standard car thats not economical to repair, could become economical to repair when its true value of mods are taken into account. Insurance is a big scam anyway and its likelly they will invent some rules up for this case.
What you can maybe do is when the insurance tell you the amount they are willing to pay you (if they write it off) ..... then tell them that they can knock off the salvage value of your car and you will keep the damaged vehicle (i have done this myself when my mk3 got wrote off). Break your smashed up car that will stand you at next to nothing .... you end up with a cash value for your car that would never of been possible by private sale. I didnt even break my mk3 (it wasnt modded enough), i left it at the salvage yard it had been held at, sold it to them for a quick couple hundred quid profit. My insurance company would of done the same thing had i not told them i wanted it back. After car sale and insurance payout i was loaded lol.

I was considering this regarless to be honest. But as the car is not in a driveable state at all and with me having no storage space it becomes a bad idea lol. Plus I would have to pay transportation costs to move the car to when I wanted it etc.
As for the next thing: not too sure yet. Deffinatly a VW though. A few ideas going through my head is a mk5 1.9 TDI with DSG or a bora PD130 Highline (only seems to be one insurance group higher than the PD100 golf!) But it all depends on the payout to be honest. I have no spare funds with having a 3 week old baby.
