Hi
I'm new here, please be nice.
I recently installed an amp & sub in my boot and I struggled to find guides for installing the power cable. There were a few, but they were either for a left hand drive, or a DSG, which are slightly different in terms of cable routing. I hope the following is helpful for somebody installing an amp power cable.
First, remove the battery

Now remove the battery tray

You will see that behind where the battery was, there is a thick bundle of cables that pass through the firewall through a large rubber grommet. The grommet has what are described as 'cow udders' around the edge, one of which you will snip the tip off and pass your wire through. It is tricky to find, a torch may come in useful.

To get the cable through from the other side, remove the foam pad under the glove box, and you will be able to see the cable poking through.Simply tuck it down the side under the carpet.

If you want, you can now tuck it under the sill and thread it down the side all the way to the boot. I was also wiring a loudspeaker cable to the sub, tapping into the rear door speaker, which required more work. First I removed the sills by pulling them upwards, they simply come off. Then I removed the pillar trim. This is held on by two T25(?) screws at the bottom.

I scraped the insulation off the speaker cable and soldered my loudspeaker cable to it for the sub signal. The usual convention is to run the signal cables down the opposite side of the car to the power cable, but I am only running a speaker level cable which is much less likely to pick up interference than a lower level RCA cable. This, plus the fact that it's only for a sub, was why I decided to run it down the same side to save time.

After running the power and speaker signal cables under the trim into the boot, I needed to get an earth for the amp. I removed the warning triangle holder and pulled back the wheel arch carpet to reveal a bolt. I undid the bolt and tickled the painted surface underneath with some sandpaper, so the metal was exposed. This was where I attached my ground.

Battery back in, and connect it all up

I am running a small boxed sub for the time being, I'm part way through building a fibreglass sub box at the moment, a thread for another time!
Let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer them
