I can't make my mind up between a GTI or GTD.

I do very little mileage per year made up of 7 miles to work and 7 back. I like the idea of diesel but my heart is saying go back to a GTI. What's your thought, I've not driven either. Pros and cons of each ?

Also has anyone got a drive the deal price from a dealer ? Looking at spec on the VW configuration it comes up at £29k yet DTD are able to do it for £25k that's over 10% discount ??

Thoughts ?

For 14 miles a day, I'd probably go GTi with the PP.

You're find your local dealer accommodating - I got 11% off my mk7 GTD when I ordered last week.

For that many miles I would definitely choose the gti over the gtd Yes

Cheers. 11% that sounds interesting. I might come back to via PM about your dealer.

Was that 11% calculated pre VAT ?

Yes. They did it because I'm seen as a fleet buyer ( even though in reality its just a single company car purchase )

I've seen a few comments on the golfgtiforum about 12% from a few dealers

Saw a GTD parked up today, looked bloody lovely,  quite understated though

Best start saving now for a 2-3 year old one :-)

Would be good to get some real world mpg's for gti and gtd

GTDs with around 1000 miles on are seeing between high 40s and mid 50s on relatively short journeys. Quite a way short of VW figures but they should improve. Am watching threads about tuning boxes which seem to have good results.

I love the look of the Santiago alloys but couldn't get to test drive a car on them before ordering so stopped with 18s

I don't like the 18"s on the white but they look ok on the black.

Going for the cold climate pack, reverse camera, and the performance pack.

Coming for a bmw with 19" wheels I know the tyres will cost a fortune. Still might bottle them and go for the standard.

I picked up my GTI last week, had to drive it back 125 miles, there was a quarter tank of fuel so I put in 2.6 gallons (12litres ) alll ways I calculate it, I was getting over 40mpg, around town since adding fuel it is still over 30mpg commuting, and that's with DSG and PP.

That's pleasing to know.

i hope the round town figure was going to be a little higher.

However I think GTI is still the best way to go for the 6,000 miles per year could cause problems running a diesel car.

I got a quote for a 3-door GTD (DSG) last week. With about £3k of options the quoted price was discounted by 12%.

I ordered my GTI mid October, with a 26 week lead time. It arrived within 9 weeks!  I have now collected it.  One word sums it up. AWESOME!

If in doubt go for it.  I selected the adaptive chassis control, which is brilliant. You can decide dif you want the car to behave like a refined limousine, or a performence sport car.

Just out of interest, how do you get discount? Lol.
Bit late now as I've ordered a new car already, but we'll be looking for another early next year too

Thanks, Paul

you ask, Paul. They don't offer.

Looking on drive the deal this morning, I can see 15% discounts on the GTD. Lots of cars from DTD seem to be via Lookers in Kent
