Now running a Mk 4 V6 4Motion as daily driver ...

4-door in black, de-badged, with original 6.5 x 16 Brands Hatch alloys running 205/55 Goodyear Ultragrip8 Winter tyres, or 7.5x17 RS4 reps running 225/45 Dunlop SportMaxx for summer

Suspension: Eibach Pro springs, Bilstein (R32) dampers, Polybush top mounts, Eibach anti-roll bars front and rear

Engine: Stock but running a Prinz Autogas LPG conversion, getting 220-240 miles per 41-litre refill costing £31  :-)

Westfalia detachable towbar

I was at a VW dealer last week and was reading either a March or April VW driver magazine with the first installment of your V6 article :)

Unfortunately the 4Motion is currently only a 2Motion! – trying to resolve problem with rear drive system – anyone got a good Haldex unit?  Before it snows....

Recent work to bring it up to scratch and fresh MoT etc: New set of Eibach Pro springs –30 mm, with Polybush –10 mm front top mounts ( dampers are R32 Bilsteins, front and rear ) Eibach anti-roll bars fitted front and rear, also needed new sump as original had started seeping oil from a small crack where it has been bashed. Curently running Dunlop Sport Maxx 225/45 on 7.5 x 17-inch RS4 reps, but  soon to have Goodyear Ultragrip8 Winter tyres swapped onto standard Mk 4 6.5 x 16-inch steel rims for Winter use as still only running 2wd, hence new Haldex unit needed... ( new controller and oil change didn't fix it... )

Any fault codes? Mine's been disabled thanks to an ABS sensor, lots of things can upset it unfortunatly.

Neil, I saved a bunch of useful threads about this ages ago, for when I was a bit suspicious about my Bora's 4motion. Common culprit with these problems is the Haldex pre-charge pump, have a look at this thead over a coffee -

Thanks for all the useful feedback...  You'd never think that so many other systems could impinge on the operation of the 4wd system

The car has spent a lot of time in the workshop at APS of Brackley and they've done a pretty thorough diagnosis before declaring that the Haldex unit itself needs to be replaced, and I've since got a pretty good offer of a low-mileage (22K) unit from a guy off this forum, so just hoping the snow holds off for a week or so...  although the set of Goodyear Ultragrip8 Winter tyres should cope even with only 2wd

LPG conversion still doing the business – gets 200 to 240 miles out of £30 worth of LPG  :-)

Sorry, not been on to check this thread for a while.. Yes, still running the V6 2Mo as a daily driver.. Only major problem was when the alternator packed up while at out track day at Castle Combe in May.. many thanks to Grantley Woodhatch of Grant Motorsport for fitting  a new one in the paddock after everyone else had gone home..  no real progress since on sorting out the rear drive issue, but not my highest priority, until it starts snowing again.. ( ?! ) Dunlops nearly worn out, so recently had the original Brands Hatch 6.5 x 16 alloys refurbed and fitted with new 205/55 Toyo T1-R Sports... Will soon need new discs and pads, will probably go for EBC Yellow or similar...

Now fast approaching 200,000 ( 197,540 on the clock last time I looked.. ) and has recently had a pair of TT front wishbones with SuperPro bushes, 4-wheel alignment, new front 312 mm discs and pads + fresh fluid, and  then a recon steering rack after the original seized up just outside VW HQ in Milton Keynes! ... all work done at VAGTech...
