well folks some of ye know me already im Sean, this was my old car a 1.4 petrol mk5

 

 

Served me well but ive always loved the gti golf and at the age of 20 i feel almost too lucky to own one. 

 

OEM Spec:

 

2006

Leather interior

sunroof

chrome interior trim

18 inch monza's

auto lights

auto mirrors

auto dimming rear view mirror

traction control

tire pressure sensors

 

Mods:

 

Lowered on eibach sportline springs

full powerflex front arm polybush kit

Full milltek turbo back exhaust with sports cat

17mm rear wheel spaces

auto locking/unlocking doors enabled

seatbelt warning chime disabled

full interior led lights

mk6 chrome switches and handles

window deflectors

tinted yellow fogs

 

Very fun car to drive, quick and nimble. The poly bushes really tighten up the steering on the front i will definitely be looking into a kit for the back. Car came with full service history and was well looked after by the owner.

Ha Ha no i sold on the other wheels got a good price for them so i let them go! I dont think they would have suited the car anyways!

 

In terms of plans a remap and intake is all im planning at the moment when i can get the cash together. It really is a fun car as it is.Maybe refurb the alloys as there is laqour peel on one of them but ive heard the 18" monzas are a pain in the backside to get done properly so i might look into new wheels all together

Thanks dan, its one of the rarer colours in the 3 door GTI, hard to keep clean but on sunny days with a polish and wax it really shines   Hopefully i can get a start on the detailing at the weekend and get it spotless

Looks nice man , how are the mk5 gti leathers for driving a long distance if you have drove it far yet? Got a set of recaro's in my mk4 but there killing my back if i'm in the car for to long and like the look of these

Being honest josh the longest journey ive had so far has only been around 2 hours so i cant really give an opinion but in terms of everyday use they really are comfy 

 

Sun is out in ireland at the moment so i gave the car a wash and went driving around with my camera for the evening after work. I know how everyone loves pictures

Yep I had a sunroof in my first car and missed it terribly in the last golf. Glad to have one back again :-)

Really surprised how nice it's sitting on springs .  I keep contemplating on trading my TDI in for a TFSI.  Really miss having a petrol!

It sits much better than my last car on coilovers, the eibach sport lines are good quality and very very comfortable. My only concern is it's on stock shocks, thinking about upgrading them to konis when the funds Allow. Also might space the front wheels same as the rear..

Well the fact I work right next door and only do around 15K miles per year it was a no brainer! If I had a large commute it wouldn't pay off. Tax is a killer though, 710€ for the year! Haha

I only do around 8k a year now haha! That is a lot for tax though! Think mine is only suppose to be £70 but I get it for free anyway .

Haha yep I hardly saw it coming myself to be honest!

when this car came up for sale I just could not resist I knew it had been well looked after and I've always admired it.

Yeah thanks man the spec isn't too bad it. As I said plans at the moment are to just enjoy it! In a few months hopefully with some cash I'll be going for a stage 1 remap and who knows after that!

Oh it's miles apart from the old golf, I just love the feel of that turbo kick every time haha more comfortable than the other one aswel and handles better.

Yep i missed having a sunroof in my last car, its a nice little subtle touch to a car when its semi up like in the photos.

There was a mk4 Golf estate 1.8T in Limerick that I wanted, it was sold by the time I could get around to it.

Are the wheels 18's that are on it or are you planning to get the 18's ? 

 

If they are 18's they have been refurbished already as they had anthracite inserts around the spokes from factory and should be diamond cut,they only did the 17 ones in silver paint

Yep there 18s I have on it. And yes they were sprayed already however whoever did it did a terrible job as the paint is starting to peel on one of the alloys so I'm looking into getting them soda blasted and powder coated. Probably in the same colour or else a gunmetal grey

They aren't cheap but the work they do is amazing which is why all our chain of body shops use them.

 

Another company we have just started to use is these : http://rhinoalloys.co.uk/  and can properly repair wheels with bad buckles,cracks and chunks missing to an extent.

 

I would like to say I am not commission with either company but I trying to pass on the info of any other company people might find useful as we do in the motor trade.

Thanks Jay   really fun cars. Quick question, my temp gauge takes roughly 10-15 minutes to reach 90. i thought it might be thermostat but the needle stays normal then for the rest of the journey. I had thermostat issues in my first golf and anytime i stopped the car at traffic the needle would rise to 90, upon moving it would start dropping again. Is this common for gti's or have i an issue? @xJay1337
