you won't get a good escort cossie for less than 15k, i'd be looking at something like a v8 m5 or a mk1 focus rs.

A few more quid and the vxr would be my choice or the focus st as they are far more tuneable with bigger gains for less money unlike the golf range

I just think other manufacture's like ford and vauxhall have cars out there that you can PLAY with, where vw dont.

If i had the money then i would not buy a vw again and buy the vxr, best thing to do is have a browse on there forums to get a picture.

i do like vxr's, one of my mate's had one few years ago, lovely sounding on boost, and good power when remapped! not to sure on handling, they are very twitchy on rear end!!!

There's a bit of choice out there for £10k.

If it were me, and for a weekend/track car, I'd say a series 1 Elise - I'm sure it would take a while to get bored of these, and if it goes pop on the Rover engine, then drop in a boosted TT lump for some lunacy.

Also, as others have said - an Evo (probably an import), would be loads of fun.

As a second car - would you mostly want to show it, track it, or use it for ragging around/weekends away?

Hi Mate,

That budget will give you some fantastic choices.  [funky]  I'll be in the market for an Escort Cosworth in around a year's time - right now, you'll get a dog for about £10-£12k - have been watching them for a few months now - if you do decide to go down this route and see one, drop me a PM - I may recognise it has having been advertised and sold on a lot lately...  [Y]

Otherwise, what about a Mazda RX7?  Would be interesting to see ya building rotary engines!  Or how about a Scooby WRX?

Steve.

M3 E46 good call, about 346BHP through the back wheels I think?  :) Evo would be fun, but servicing/running costs and reliability are questionable

BMW 330ci is awsomne for what it is, my bro picked up his Estoril Blue clubsport mint condition with 60k on the clock for 7k  and the colour is great. But serioisly i would push for a m3 but running costs can be a issue.
