E46 M3 all the way. Sound awesome on full chat and they still have decent street cred. Just make sure its not lime green wth red leather.

Black with black leather 19s and SMG and your good to go! http://www.pistonhea...les/1606909.htm

E30 M3 - one thats been converted to RH drive, or if your feeling a challenge, get a LH drive one and do the work yourself. the car will have maximum street cred.

will be the rarest car anyone will see!

going off the m3, due to running costs.

thinking a nice facelift 330 ci m sport now, any one had one before,

I've had both if that helps...

Shopping for an E46 M3 under £10k you have to be aware a lot of them will be scrap. High miles (80k+), ragged within an inch of their lives and with owners who will often have neglected the maintenance. SMG on the M3 is extremely good, but I would be very nervous about running an M3 without a warranty. It's still a £40-50k when something fails. There is a lot to look for (crash damage, 1200 mile running in service, etc) but if you find a good one at the right stage in it's service cycle (say one with new front discs and pads (£1000) that has just had an Insp2), they aren't that bad to for the power you get. Independent dealers will charge a lot less for work:

Basic Oil Service - £200-£220 (Dealer), £120-£180 (Indy)

Insp1 Service - £600-£800 (Dealer), £400-£600 (Indy)

Basic Oil Service - £200-£220 (Dealer), £120-£180 (Indy)

Insp2 Service - £900-£1200 (Dealer), £500-£700 (Indy)

... every 12k or so, then repeat. If you want more info on M3s i can give it but personally I would say the 330 Clubsport is a better idea for £10k. Should get you a very clean one with change. It's not as ballistic but it's still a quick car, sounds lovely, excellent ride and handling, quality finish inside and out...and drastically cheaper to run. Servicing is about 60-70% lower. Insurance well under 1/2. The difference between the Clubsport and a normal Sport are 2 custom colours (Estoril Blue, Velvet Blue - which is Purple), split rims, a few badges, something like 10KG weight saving and the spoiler.. If you aren't buying an Estoril bliue one though i'd probably buy a normal one. Not a face lifted car, but This Looks Good. Avoid SSG gearboxes on the 330 like the plague, total crap. My two, just to whore....

I'd get a low mileage s3. They still look great, lovely interior, quattro, and get a map and exhaust and it will be quick [Y]

As others have said I wouldn't want a 10k e46 m3, its going to be trouble [help]

Big Smile

Thanks mate for the info! Bet u loved that m3!

Yep my mind is made up about the m3 now.. im not to sure about the clubsport 330? dont really like the alloys and the spoiler kind of looks chav!..lol

im hopefully looking at a 55 plate 330 ci m sport this week.. also i was told to consider a diesel version? but the main reason i want a 330 is because of the sound of the 3lt petrol lump under bonnet, dont think the sound of a diesel is quite the same..lol

heres pic of the one im looking at!

That is my favourite E46 colour - sparkling graphite...

When the 330d Coupe was launched, 330i Coupe sales dropped dramatically (lot's of company cars, business vehicle sales etc). It's a great engine but it doesn't do it for me. Woth considering if you do big miles.

I did a 330 vs M3 video....

Manual - excellent

Steptronic Auto - excellent

SSG - garbage

SSG is toilet and hard to sell on. In Auto mode it's like a 5 year old changing gear, in manual mode it's neck snappingly jerky and the wheel mounted paddles feel cheap and flimsy.

It's sometimes advertised as SMG and was badged as such towards the end to try and cash in on the M3, but if it's on a 330, it's SSG. SMG II on the M3 is totally different. If you see this in the car, run from the showroom. RUN.

Subaru impreza sti type R or a blobeye sti spec C OR if insurance isnt a problem, then you want something faster than a porsche, ferrari lambo etc..a Toyota Supra HEAVILY MODIFIED PERFORMANCE WISE running atleast 600-700bhp minimum.

Congrats on your new motor! [:P]

I'd be interested to know how the 330 compares to you stage 2 mapped golf, I'd expect there not to be much in it just a more torquey engine in the bm and of course that sweet straight 6!

Compared to the golf i would say the golf was alittle quicker off the mark (in the dry) prob picks up quicker! the 330 gets alot of traction thanks to the 255's on the back and DSC.. so in the wet it would have advantage! last nite i was loving coming of round abouts in 2nd and going up thro the gears on the dual carriageways, 6 pot really does howl the more u rev it! and it does handle the speed alot better than the golf. its kind of in a different league. but i guess it should be! i actually got the car for 8.5k, 55plate, 1 owner, its in great condition and i havent as yet found one fault!
