That only checks the MOT though, not previous owners or anything else on a HPI check

There was a huge thing in the newspaper about 6 months ago about the guys that carried out a large milage scam on expensive cars, i didnt see Watchdog but heard it was the same bunch that were going to be on it!

SCUM!

Spoils it for all of us!

The MK4 Golf is very very easy to adjust the mileage on, I normally do it when fitting new clocks (To match the same miles as the original ones that is!!) & it only takes less than 5 mins to connect the computer & change the miles!

Yes but it also shows all previus computerised MOT issued to show if the mileage is consistant.

Ya I know all the other stuff was ok as the dealer I got the car from had done one but had no mileage info on it. (not did my £20 check)

so this could be the only check you can do to check previous mileage during mot tests.

Well i hate the fact that I looked now..... an insanely high milage recorded on one of the tests....

The words 'oh bugger' spring to mind.

Interesting to see the failures that come up though....

I got the testing station number off the Guy that was advertising my car for sale even before going to see it.

Checked Everything including The MOT computerisation details, If it was showing as Taxed on DVLA, A HPI Check, Even Checked if it was currently insured & then also rang my local VW Garage for them to check on their national Data base to see what services had been recorded

I will have a look, but the MOT test station sounds familiar, I think they carried out one or two of the stamped services....which would lead me to think THEY had the car for a while and MAYBE wanted to sell it fast....if anyone catches what Im not saying there?

Will go get the book right now....

Well something doesnt add up correctly.....

The MOT milages and Service stated milages dont match up after 2006.

Mot at 10/10/06 says 92K .... service book says 69K

Now the servicing up until 03 was done in Inverness at a dealership I took the car to enquiring about the history.

Now im hoping that there is a mistake on MOT's somewhere, but as I cant see previous to that one I cant check where the gap started!

Oh well, no point worrying anymore, just enjoy the car!

Even though in theory the car could have up to 150K on it and its 104K displayed.

My version of VAGCOM cant check milage as its 303.1 so cant see what the ECU says!

I am enjoying it, but have noticed more and more needs doing on it, im constantly thinking about replacing something or am actually fixing things! Thankfully I do it all myself so i save in labour.... but on a £3K car im starting to find things adding up to around £400.... at what point do you stop?

Love my golf though and only had it since oct!

Upgrade to a 130 in a few months maybe?

Might google the names of these places and see if they exist....locations of MOT's and Services may give me more clues.... if miles apart... WHY?

The log book belongs to this car as it was confirmed by the original dealership, but when it left them it may have not been filled outt, and then faked years later!

my car is in the garage so I dont have all of my info to check but its only had 2 MOTs I think and only done 27k, the only thing I have found was a warentee repaire from the dealer back in 2007, he could not tell me what work was done but could tell me it was at 17k, sso at least its in the right direction.
