My own car got treated to some work today.
I was asked to go to a show on Sunday, and told everyone is entering show and shine... a show car this is definitely not!
Ah well, I thought it better at least have a tidy up.

The car onoy really gets a QD wipe down before it's taken out and lives in an underground car park.
Some dirt inside, outside, everywhere, haha.

They wheels, tyres and arches were cleaned up with Auto Finesse Imperial, Verso and followed up with Iron Out.

Safety first...

DSC01030_zpsklbskomw.jpg

Auto Finesse Avalanche was used to pre wash the car. While it was softening the dirt, the little gaps and shuts were dealt using a detailing brush.

DSC01031_zpsglr1dniy.jpg

DSC01032_zpsk1blnqjr.jpg

DSC01034_zpswg4tsphk.jpg

This was followed up with a 2 bucket method wash using Auto Finesse Lather.

DSC01035_zps7a654h3q.jpg

Taken inside after a thorough final rinse and dried using compressed air and an Aqua Deluxe towel.

DSC01039_zpsmsw4ctya.jpg

DSC01041_zpskcyx1hoq.jpg

The car was clayed and then onto polishing.

These will be rubbish as I didn't set the camera up for the different light. Whoops!

DSC01043_zpsyjowrzvx.jpg

DSC01044_zpsijdh8hcn.jpg

Only a finishing polish on a medium polishing pad was needed to get where I wanted.

There's always been some marring on the bootlid, you can see the sweeping lines below the torch.

DSC01061_zpsayjgcmjo.jpg

Easily removed.

DSC01063_zpsa1ry1ac8.jpg

The bonnet before (it was Tungsten grey when I got it, and it'll be easier to sell on one day if it's still grey)
This took a much heavier polishing set with further refinement.

DSC01067_zpsotef2flx.jpg

After.

DSC01068_zpsryqfi7nk.jpg

The paintwork was then waxed with ODK Wax Eclipse.

DSC01072_zps06jrlepm.jpg

All unpainted plastics were treated. There's a lot on this car!

DSC01077_zps0jv05f2i.jpg

The interior was a bit grubby. Fully vacuumed. Plastics wiped down with the new ODK interior detailer.

DSC01079_zpsxfmbnrzc.jpg

DSC01081_zpsiglyrxlt.jpg

DSC01082_zpse6qpe8d8.jpg

I then turned to the engine bay. Auto Finesse Verso sprayed on and agitated, before being removed with a microfiber cloth.

The alloy intercooler had become tarnished. I didn't have time to remove it so just the top was polished.

DSC01085_zpsrhuoivwl.jpg

After - the crusty looking intake will be swapped very soon.

DSC01086_zpsui5y1djt.jpg

The exhaust take a pasting from the road.
Before.

Auto Finesse Mercury used to bring it back.

DSC01091_zpsrfclpfzr.jpg

DSC01094_zps9lruo5fb.jpg

The glass was polished with Auto Finesse Vision.
Tyres dressed with Gyeon Tire.

All finished up :)

Lovely little GT turbo. They were quite a weapon in there time. Unfortunately I know of quite a few that ended up in ditches.

What's the specification of yours?

Thanks bud :) it still surprises a lot of people. It's funny how many people don't know what it is.

They don't fair well in crashes. I've seen the left overs of a few, that's why I went for a cage and harnesses!

Mines nothing major.

I rebuilt the standard C1J engine.

Rebuilt the car and rejected at the same time.

A bit more boost. Running around 140 BHP.

Full CoupÄ— dampers all round with 40mm lowering springs on the front.

The only thing that let it down are the rubbish tyres.

Agreed there - loving the side exit.

Always had a soft spot for a 5, can't remember the last time I saw one in the flesh sadly. Lovely example you have!

The exhaust gets a lot of people talking.

It sounds so good. You can hear the turbo spool up and down through it, the nice burble from the unequal length manifold, and it's quieter than the old Scorpion rear exit.

Found a picture from West Side Treffen of it :)

After a wet drive down loads of country lanes.

Awesome car. Really don't see many about any more - our old neighbours had three boys and one had an R5 one had a Pug 205 and one had a Golf GTI. Was awesome when they had them parked up together.

They're great, fun little cars. I've had mine 9 years and all that's let me down has been a starter motor, clutch cable and a split hose. Not bad, considering it'll be registered 30 years on Tuesday :)

Great job on this! What's that brush you're using for the petrol cap?

Thanks :)
It's an Auto Finesse hog hair detailing brush. They're fantastic brushes.

The side exit  - first photo thought it was the rear bumper, didn't clock the yellow fog light..

inspirational design, solving both weight saving and back pressure

hog hair brush, you could do a great wet shave with that!

Thanks dude :)

It saved quite a lot of weight. It massively improved off boost throttle response so you don't really feel any lag. It's much quieter too.
