So I've listed my mk4 for sale
Ive had a message this morning as if i still have i replied and this is the message i got back

Thanks for your response,
I want you to consider this a deal as i am willing to pay your full asking price! i actually want to buy it for a relative who is in need of it, i have checked through your advert and i'm fully satisfied with it.
Unfortunately, i would not be able to come personally to collect but would send my courier agent to collect after you have fully received your money, i work offshore so i don't have time at all, but like i said i am 100% OK with the advert.
However, I will pay you via PayPal once you are ready and send my courier agent after you have received your money as that is the only means of payment available to me at the moment. I would also appreciate if you could remove the advert asap.
If that's Ok with you please get back to me with a suitable collection time.

Is it just me or does that message seem odd to anyone else

I wouldn't accept it, he might not be messing about but with paypall he can just say he wants his money  back... I would reply back:

I don't accept paypal so get the money to the who ever is picking the car up, so they can pay cash on collection. If you can't do that than we have no deal...

wait for his response and you'll see he'll say he can't get the money to the courier, and if he can't do that than that means he would've ripped you off.

Out of interest what you got the pickup guy to sign something saying car has been checked ect. I know it would be hassle but would the person have a leg to stand on then?
I have had to get paypal involved in the past ans be honest i thought they was really good ar sorting out getting my money back

There is no pick up guy.

You pay, that's the end of it.

If they have access to PayPal then they can use online banking to do a bank transfer.
Or.. They can PayPal their imaginary pick up guy and he can bring cash..

Of course that's assuming it's not a scam (which it is)..

this is why i said what i said in the first place but assume it is a scam and you'll be left with no car and no money... so if he can't pay in cash tell him where to go and stick it, even a bank transfer can be reversed... so let him pay in cash or tell him were to go.

I once sold a motorbike to a guy in poland. He paid paypal and sent his own courier.

I also sold a MK2 Golf to a guy who lived on an offshore oil rig and sent someone else to collect it.

I got similar 'dodgy' looking messages both times, but figured if the cash is in my account before I hand over any keys then I'm safe.

They're not all scams.

True but if he really wants the car, and I gave him the benefit of doubt, he will find another way of paying him in cash.... he could give the agreed price to the person picking the car up.
