I wished i had a garage and some extra cash so i could build my own 4 motion... one difference it would be a r32 twin turbo setup... but i don't have the space and lack the funds... so these type of threads are some what helping to keep that itch at bay :D

Haha if I had the funds I would of loved to put an RS3 tuned setup in there instead

Rs3 engine is nice but it is more fun to tap into wasted potential... the R32 has so much hidden potential on the standard internals I still don't get that VW didn't make them with a turbo or supercharger from the start.

and did you know audi has a Q5  v6t  that is nothing less than the v6 engine bored out to 3.0 and fitted with a turbo? so someone finally started using them for their hidden potential ... quite funny to see they pushout about 350bhp and about 450NM of torque... basically the same as you get from a DIY build V6 T... the R32 would be giving you just under 400bhp and about 500NM of torque.  ps said q5 is called the SQ5 by the way

I like the sound and the mental tuning capabilities of the RS3 lump

And yeah sq5 engine is nice but I do think that's a proper V6 rather than the vr6

Yeah I think it is also but they've taken the idea from the tuners... also one big difference it's a diesel ;) basically what the vr6 engine was supposed to be in the first place.

Doesn't matter to me to be honest I wouldn't mind either of the discussed engines to play around with...

What? I googled sq5 because I was curious by your wording. It’s nothing but a simple 3.0 turbo diesel that’s been in all audi cars since 2005~ but has 2 turbos now. Which audi uses since roughly 2012 on several models. And it’s 230kw and 650nm. Just a simple diesel

230kw is how many bhp? Yeah about 350bhp I was wrong about the torque...never did say it was a special engine by the way... just a v6t diesel... I've driven one and they are surprisingly fast.

What grinds my gears is that you chose sq5 that already sounds special and v6t. When in reality it’s plain v6. Like I said your wording got my curiosity. Could’ve been regular audi a6 v6 diesel as an example, sounds straight boring that one.
Aye, they’re fun, always thought why double the banks and not the turbos in normal cars. Liked biturbo setup since audi b5 2.7. But diesel is life. Was going to get audi b5 avant for a first car, always wanted one since I was a kid. But life got in the way and it got old, then b6 came out and it was a bit tad expensive that day, then b7, and several decades later, I’ve only caught up with b8 and got that one.
Still love b5 tho, probably will get one somewhere along the life.

You shouldn't have gotten exited... simply because I used the proper names that Audi decided to use.. and because I did drive the SQ5 were they refer to it as such V6T... I just stated it is about time they finally started tapping into the potential of their engines with hidden potential.

The 50/50 haldex insert came I installed it was abit of a headache put new gasket and circlip in.

I managed to weld up the rs tips to the sportex back box and bench tested the motor tips look even and welded up and mounted the 3 inch cat back pipe from the rs

I then removed rear toe eye and cut the rear panel where the OSR tip will come out

I want to get a rear bumper I want to keep before mounting the backbox so I don't cut up a nice bumper and also for the correct positioning

Started up the car straight piped let it warm up and gave few revs sounds nice not as loud as I thought it would be but I ride a motorcycle so I'm used to really loud pipes I suppose. And will be nice to be able to close the valve for stealth mode at times aha

Next steps I think is to source either R32 or r line or mk5 style plastic rear bumper so I can finish exhaust work then lithium light wieght battery and finally get it mapped hopefully by this winter should be ready!163267324e21ba7ce37e3a8590c696b5.jpg232ff7f5fdfada6a308ac2bc330b7870.jpg6d14c44e249dc7c41c1f97132dc97964.jpgcd93f4cb1bcfdb8de84fe5c1b5157661.jpga371da8fc57d1addf632ade7e8d075eb.jpg8aee3310812c17c20bec8db260de75df.jpgdc26aa3a0ae3f95f8d8389adeb0914cd.jpg34cf39b66aa56e51e3f2a3f68d73bf39.jpga85afdd123871b528a89ef893ca91d0f.jpg

So the latest updates are as follows,

I done some research and went with a lithium battery called ps-20 by a brand called power light I belive its just shy of 2kg and has some cool features most likely I will have to incorporate some sort of cutoff swith as it is of low amp hour rating.

As I've uprated the haldex insert I've gone and got a fresh oil filter and oil to service it with expecting it to get messy aha have to get hold of a decent caulking gun and I've heard its a good idea to put in the freezer to increase viscosity for ease of filling as it's upright.

I've also got hold of a door lock module and I'm waiting for the window motor aswell so hopefully should get rid of some issues unrelated to the conversion.

I've managed to finish most of the exhaust after lots of fiddling and mocking up quite pleased with the result especially as it's by eye I probably will get hold of a nice rear bumper/diffuser to set it off and still have to wire up the motor

Off the top of my head I'll have atleast three additional switches wired up for the different things to work.

I've also aquired the two missing top silicone boost pipes so it completes the boost pipe upgrade.

All the red seat belts are fitted and working as they should with the leather recaros.

So I made up a battery tray with a rubber strap out of a trim item from a boot of an old astra

Put the plate holder on and decided I'm gonna go smoked carbon gel once I transfer my private reg

And the exhaust is now fully finished bar exhaust motor needs to be wired to a switch it does sound epic pops and crackles even without the map haha and alot more neighbor friendly with the valve closed just as I was after

Ive fitted the lcr front splitter and decided on the look I'm going for so going to either purchase of make up a rear diffuser and extend and modify the side skirts and spoiler

Clocks are now fully operational apart from fuel gauge so that will need addressing 0f285a1e4c0023e45dacd3a2d3be37d8.jpg78b77a7bf43366fe9012828fe35188e4.jpgf359d24fb9d461fcdb8074468133cb89.jpg

Whats the exhaust from? Or should I say, how did you work out how wide you wanted the tail pipes?

I see you have some sort of exhaust flap, I know the R32 has one of those, is that a TT one? I have a V6 4motion (nice low mileage 74k on the clock) and have been thinking of 'R32ing' its styling, one of the things thats a sticking point is the exhaust as I want an OEM exhaust, but also see it has a flap to open it up above 3000rpm, apparent there is something that connects in to the cars electronics to control it, but trying to get hold of one of those might be hard work, Audi TT's seem much more abundant!

This 3inch catback pipe is from a 2015+ focus rs been cut and shut to my sportex back box has the valve and motor by the tip and ill probably have it on a switch for now but might do as you say and have it a certain rpm will definitely be better and all of it I done by eye untill the very end I got a tape measure out and just used references on the bumper before I closed up the last weld to get all the angles and gaps perfect

But for what you want I'd just get a mk4 r32 pipe and weld in a backbox or resonator bypass pipe with a valve on it either to tips or under car probably best bet pal

So I found last few left overs of the rs exhaust and added into the mix along with a miltek clamp so it's now 3 inch the whole way

Where a previous owner had changed the driver door to a lower spec model aswell as the window motor being blown caused a fair bit of changes from the shell up including the door lock barrel blade being snapped so I replaced that after the mor and lock mech and was a fiddle and led me to drop the locking clip in the tightest gap of the door *sigh* I cut the door and folded the flap managed to retrieve the clip and the screw not no more zip ties and door trim all back on central locking all working etc winning

I've been slowly getting annoyed with the rear bumper so decided to do something with it for a rough idea happy so far but I do wanna put a lip kit all around over skits and bumper and spoiler

I found some projectors I might slowly mold into mk4 headlights but I really like the twindicator look as well as new shape squarish bmw ccfl angle eyes like on the m2 along with twin projector hids modern look

Birthday came round so thought I'd treat myself to 986 calipers adaptors Banjo bolts and pads always hated the pedal feel of the mk4 platform in comparison to most new cars think I'm also going a different shade of blue should be nice. They are extremely light weight

So I brang the calipers to work with me, started tearing them down and ready to flip over bleed nipples along with the crossover link pipes

3 of them were siezed inside the caliper threads no amount of wd40 or oxycetaline could free them up along with using brake pipe specific spanners, which I was quiet supriced at considering they visably apeared in fair condition on collection

I resorted to cutting the link pipe and using a long 3/8ths rachet on a socket I bashed on the nipples and bolt heads

Finally after freeing them I could see the damage which I think a helicoil and some threadlock should repair

I've decided to repair and re inforce all the lines and nipple threads along with new hardware

Changing over from the tt setup one of the things I needed was 2 m10x1.0mm Banjo bolts. All the other fittings and threads for nipples and lines seem to be the same

I've bought some copper pipe for £7 to bend and flare into shape will get some sort of foam to protect them as per oem bar the £88 quid on ebay

I could of walked into a really good shop to collect the m10x1.0mm helicoil kit but that would of set me back £40 so decided to have a look on eBay found a kit of 15pcs for £11

So in the long run I should have a very reliable and stronger than stock setup for the hardware and as mentioned before the mintex pads were £25

Darkside have my order they are waiting for a delivery then will ship out to me so hopefully if all goes to plan should have this setup along with reverting to the golf abs pump sorted and ready to go next week 863956a2f2e2b925c416a777d1d72079.jpgf9677511947fda2bfcab30613fc503e8.jpgbfb5123bc6c4360115e4321aeada6172.jpgc33c65187113d793e1a4b0725b17d7d5.jpge2e10a439e95803ee15446c48ba814c3.jpg5db5c359dde5d31c41b3b4fce5a494b5.jpg36614e7905cb1c6f4014523eaecb34bc.jpg8c58019e18217e9e117c7a8059d6f8d8.jpg296582bdf56f25303b4e411f54ec6382.jpg

So i managed to rescue the majority of stripped threads I will test them and if need be I have the helicoil kit now at the ready but I think it's best to leave it as a last resort as its the most aggressive and risky fix

I bent cut and flared the copper pipe with the correct fittings new bleed nipples and

New mintex sintered pads fitted and brake greased up and pads retainers ground down

Darkside bracket came and then bolted calipers up to find that the wheels do not clear the calipers so I've ordered some 15mm hubcentric wheel spacers and bolts
Which hopefully should be the last of my issues

I need to fit the other side caliper and then stock abs pump and bleed it all up clear codes and hopefully should have the quattro back along with beefier braking force

After the interior is back together with seat belt srs resistors in place along with a gasket of some sort for the cat back I think its finally time to get it mapped bcff5c15c05232032c7fac8f0e316152.jpg20d25b8920ce8444e713448195b17b9e.jpgb3663eac7a6660ac815e33470a39f587.jpg509f4c8acda3d4f3dcd9004c180d972d.jpgef190bb94cb88eb36857ee7ad4ae55df.jpg41c400bf1592afde530ceebbb81fc7de.jpg723b881c96aa349f63ba5972bfc56d52.jpg632fc4386bc70c6d9357804d13fe1131.jpgda01cbc7c8acf6dec5e1d0d86b174738.jpg

So progress has been made slowly but surely as my daily pd130 decided to blow its turbo oil seal was a set back as funds had to be diverted to repair/upgrade that haha ending up with two projects

As the photos show I've managed to sort the damaged threads with an insert on the porsche caliper

I've installed the tt coolant cover bracket and modified the large 5.3L washer bottle to work and fill space hopefully I manage to get the cover soon

Sourced r8 coil packs fitted them after replacing leaking rocker cover gasket and painted rocker black even tho I plan on keeping the cover over them aha

I have also bolted up the boost pipe bracket on the chassis leg from the tt

Replaced coolant temp sensor on housing on the side of the block along with changing all the old brittle plastic to cast Aly flanges as well as broken Dipstick tube and Pcv elbow while I had the front panel off to fit the direnza aluminium radiator

Fitted red interior bits and up and down adjustable quick shifter on selector shaft of the gearbox along with the shifter inside the car

W8 light and bora vent lights all wired up to dimmer switch will try source a black one in the future

Fuel filter connector broke when I tried to replace filter so got unleaded injected fuel lines and fuel clamps and done away with the connector

Digital multifunctional boost gauge with obd code reading and clearing along with shift light etc still need to play around with it alot more but quite pleased with it

I've also sourced and fitted the aero wipers
As I've always have the aeroblade wipers the arms I do prefer as they sit flat on the screen and more of an oe option

Holy thread resurrection batman!

Sorry to revive this old thread, but I'm currently in the process of lobbing my BAM engine from my TT into a 4mo and am scratching my head with the wiring.

Would you be able to tell me what you needed to do to the loom? Did you need to swap in both sides of the ECU loom? I've got the small plug side but foolishly let the big plug side go when I scrapped the car

Any help greatly appreciated mate. Looks like amgood build!

Rs3 engine is nice but it is more fun to tap into wasted potential... the R32 has so much hidden potential on the standard internals I still don't get that VW didn't make them with a turbo or supercharger from the start.

and did you know audi has a Q5  v6t  that is nothing less than the v6 engine bored out to 3.0 and fitted with a turbo? so someone finally started using them for their hidden potential ... quite funny to see they pushout about 350bhp and about 450NM of torque... basically the same as you get from a DIY build V6 T... the R32 would be giving you just under 400bhp and about 500NM of torque.  ps said q5 is called the SQ5 by the way

my friends R32 was 440 hp single turbo

yeah but that isn't on standard internals, if he drove around like that not only would he smoke his clutch in a short time he would also spit out a piston at some point... that means he lowered the compression, and did a few other things like bigger injectors... if he says he didn't he's lying.
