Good!!!!!!! This lot know they're breaking the law in their own country, and yet they travel to another country well known for being a lot less lenient on modified cars and complain when they're penalised for it? (Where are all those more effective facepalms when you need them?)

It's still possible to build and own a really nice looking car that is 100% road legal without having to conform to the same boring cliched old formula that's the cause of the 'problem' here. You (the stretch and poke brigade) made your beds, now you have to lie in them  .

Imagine going to another country and needing to abide by there laws, I'm shocked  :lol-lol:

All that caption is missing is "Sons crying now, thanks" at the end

As far as I know they have left the main part of the story out, apparently they where all driving like bell-ends and racing each other which is what got them pulled over. It is hard to believe the German police would randomly check every car because they where just parked up at a service station. This might not be 100% true but wouldn't surprise me one bit. I mean 1000s of other highly modified cars have driven through Germany to Worthersea without problem in the past.

Feel sorry for the lads like, imagine getting your car impounded in a foreign country.

German police now have a block on a rope to check if the car is to low, they will pull from the front to the back of the car... if it get's stuck the car is deemed not road worthy... and will be impounded they don't care if you are foreign either... but longstory short German police don't like pulling people over unless you clearly did something wrong that endangered other road users.... In all my years of driving around in Europe i found the German police to be the most relaxed coppers, and the Dutch coppers to be the worst, if they pull you over you will be fined or worse.

Agreed.

I have family in the Rhineland and have been taking my car for a visit and a touring (camping) holiday in the rest of Germany once or twice a year for nearly 40 years now.. Never been stopped by police in any of the countries I've visited (other than French near the Channel Ports) and of those I've spoken to the Germans have been the best, usually friendly and helpful

For one of the very few countries in the world to still have no proper speed limits on some of it's roads, you have to be driving like a complete f**kwit to get stopped for bad driving. So if you do get stopped for driving like this, don't complain about the police spoiling your holiday, birthday and arse raping you, grow up and learn a lesson from it.

I'm inclined to agree with everyone here. I've done my fair share of driving in Germany and seen modified cars, I suspect they were driving like idiots and attracted the attention of the police, who then threw the book at them.

Reap what you sow.

Ive seen an episode of mighty car mods in germany, they are extremely anal about modifications, every mod needs papers to show its compliant, it like an MOT for that modification. Anything aftermarket you put in - that wont bat an eyelid in the UK needs inspection.

Can you imagine those cambered cars with stretch tyres on the autobhan doing 130-140.

It's amazing that a pair of auzzies know about TUV but these brits don't and they drive german cars.

Where is the gofundme page? I'd like to leave a comment on there.

"Guys & girls, before you donate to this cause, think about the thousands of people in the UK who are dependant on foodbanks. Think about the terminally ill people living in hospices waiting to die, think about the kids born with severe illnesses in the childrens hospitals across the country. They need resources and funding, every pound goes to make life a little bit easier for them.

Would you rather help the ones who really need it, or help these prats bring these monstrosities back into the UK."

This was in May.

I realise this was in May, did see it at the time but obviously not this post

I wish they had crushed them to be honest. Would serve them right, absolute buffoons the lot of them. There's a time and a place for that level of camber - motorsport purposes on track.

No sympathy

I guess it's one part of the EU empire that has not been ratified across borders. It would make things easier if everyone adopted the same rules.
Surely someone 'human rights' are being abused/ompromised here? I suspect an EU high court challenge could work?

Playing devils advocate here, I'm a happy independent.

Actually no every EU country can have their own rules that are different from EU law... it is one of those things like how Texas in the USA has the dead penalty yet most other states haven't got that... Long story short by law in Germany you can't be lowering the car to the ground without almost no suspension movement left... this is the reason why they have that block on a rope.. Yes if you got coilovers or air ride you might be able to get away with it if they allow you to raise the car, they usually will let you do that and drive off... unless you are unpleasant to them... they will throw the book at you and if they do no court will not agree with them.

Remember Germany is one of the biggest petrolhead countries in the EU.. Although they are anal about modifications once you pass the TUV certification you are fine. ,they will leave foreign visitors alone unless they are acting suspicious, endanger them self and other road users or when pulled over for a regular check up (something they are allowed to do by EU law) get verbally abused... they will throw the book at you and German police will do it by the book.

And that is what happened to those guys, I used to live in the Netherlands, went to German car shows loads of times or just went across the border to go for a unlimited speed bash... Not once did i get pulled over by the German police, all my cars were modified when crossing the border and the last time i went to Germany I saw that block on a rope being pulled under my own car... and guess what it went passed since i do like some form of suspension... my mate needed to raise his car... and this was when we were sitting at our hotel, by the way, cleaning the cars for the meeting the next day, not even a problem or a ticket they just asked if he had the tools to put it higher if he didn't they would actually tell him were to go to get it raised as the German law doesn't allow cars to be to low. As long as you are acting normal and stay pleasant they'll never give you a fine or impound your car... but be a D***head and suffer the consequences it'll hurt your wallet and probably ruin your holiday.
