i had the DMF fail about 4 years ago, usually symptoms, rattle at idle etc

recently it stared making exactly the same noises, i was somewhat slightly intoxicated as the was only 40,000 miles,  the original lasted 170,000

then i was walking away from the car whilst it was idling, and the ought that the rattle seemed to be coming from under the car.

when checking before,  i had started the car, then walked to the front of the car on the drivers side and listed under the hood,  the noise always seemed to come from the front of the car and the gearbox.

so had a good listen, definitely coming form under the middle of the car,  got head under there,  loose heat shield touching the exhaust.

so, what sounded exactly like a DMF, was a loose heat shield and a 10p fix.
