I am finally going to retire my mk5 GT  and I am thinking of a  3 door Polo Gti (probably the 1.4) from between 2014 & 2016 are there any stand out issues with these, hopefully corrosion shouldn't be an issue & I assume that most of the under pinnings are pretty standard VAG fare. Anyone any experience with what trim & options were available for these model years?

Its done too many miles and is starting to become a money pit. It needs the roof lining replaced, it has had new lower front arms, drive shaft, EGR, brake flexies, rear calipers, new front wings, new boot release, two new door lock modules, on it's second set of mirrors etc, etc. Much as I love it, it is in great condition except the roof lining, I have fitted RCD510DAB and Parrot, centre console etc but with 130k on the clock I am looking for something newer.

well sort out the roof-liner with a cheapy from a scrappy in good nick sell the car as the mileage is still oke-ish and use the money from that to up your budget to buy your Polo ... i would only go for the Polo GTI but that is me as it is almost the same size as the mk4 golf.. so you won't be missing to much space in the car...  plus it has the better looking interior... (they ain't cheap though)

Yep that is what I am looking at 1.4 GTi maybe a 1.8GTi, budget will be about 10k, not enough for a late Golf GTi, but a 3 door Polo will do the trick & maybe remap later in the year!
